2017-18 NCAA Football Thread

That was a great game. I do believe the committee got it right.

Can't wait for next year. IT goes by so quick.

Monday, 8:30pm games should be banned. Half time didn't start until 10:00. They really need to move that game to Saturday or Friday (if they want to avoid NFL wild card games).

Great game, disappointing ending. Some HORRIBLE officiating that really hurt UGA too.

Besides the obvious TD in overtime, the biggest play of the game was the scramble by Bama's freshman QB for a first down.

IMO, the two best teams in the nation played last night.

And with two freshman quarterbacks. Scary for the rest of the NCAA for two more years.

Come on now ... you CAN'T with a serious face say that Calls didn't help Bama .....
As well as Missed FACEMASKS and movement before the play that didn't get called ... this one was HUGE as it was on the Punt that Georgia BLOCKED.

That said ...
Georgia dominated the 1st half and with the Freshman QB for Bama, they controlled most of the 2nd half, the 4th quarter especially.

Did the refs cost UGA the game? No, but to think at least three calls, all that went against UGA didn't change the momentum of the game is silly.

UGA's lack of tackling and conservative play calling in the second half was what lost the game.

I don't think the officiating was that bad, seen worse for sure.
The real story I thought was freshman QB coming in and changing the game.
Bama's QB I've always thought was weakest link. Yes he was mobile and great runner in open field but against good defense keeping him bottled up his decision making skills were poor and coaching staff (Saban) knew it thus making decision to play the freshman.

The kid made some mistakes and that understandable, however, he played very well considering the environment.

So, I wonder what the situation in the spring and training camp is gonna be ... did the kid with the Starting job for next year or will there be a competition or just go with the "Guy that got you there" ?

After a token competition the better decision maker and passer most likely gets the job. The freshman from Hawaii.

I would have been fine had they started him at the beginning of the season, but I do understand why they did not.
Honestly, I look for Hurts to play a wildcat role in some situations, with Tua the starter.

Texas A&M QB's really had the transfer bug under Sumlin, losing 2 at same time. 5 star recruit Kyle Allen didn't like his role so decided to transfer and ended up being backup at U of Houston. :biggrin2

Yeah, saw a post on FB today with a ton of pics showing how many calls (holds, facemasks, pass interference, ect) that georgia should have been called on.

Meh, it happens. It's football.

There were a few, but there were a LOT that went Bama's way ....

Cue Nancy Kerrigan screaming WHY, WHY, WHY ...... :oldlaugh

It was more than a few, I'll have to look for the post.

Still, it's about what's missed in a regular game. Calls are missed.
