This looks to be an amazing TV, how does it compare to the LG top of the line OLED? Looking to buy another oled new year and replace the old Samsung SUHD.
Already have an LG B7P from Costco a 55”.
I enjoy webOS 3.5 a lot.
Gonna wait until CES but want to do my homework and see what they going to announce next year, but hopefully after CES the prices on the A1E starts dropping.

Having a Sony 940E with the X1 xtreme chipset, and coming from a 2016 E6 OLED, I can tell you the sony processing is not worth the money. Get a B or C, and enjoy the savings and spend it on another toy.

I see, the Sony tvs are almost double th price, they look nice, but android tv kinda sux.

Well, I have to eat some crow. I was researching A1E's and E7's for my friend, and after reading calibration and owner's threads on both, I just ordered a 65" A1E LOL.

While MotionFlow is better than Trumotion, and the X1 is better than anything LG has 2017 or older, I still don't think it was worth a huge cash gap. The A1E and E7 are basically the same prices now, so that made it simple for me. Was seriously considering the 77" OLED for 2018, but the prices are just too much after thinking about it longer, hopefully, this time next year they will be in the right range for a 77" C8. Plus I wanna see if LG's new A9 chip actually improved processing like they claim before I give them more money. I like using a little frame creating, and the LG artifacts, where the Sony does not. The Sony smooth gradation is also great on my 940E.

Ordered this one like my E6, broken in and calibrated from Value Electronics, guess I'll have it in 3-4 weeks from now. Not sure how I feel about the kickstand, but if I hate it they make a tabletop stand that uses the wall mount holes, so I could do away with the kickstand. Hopefully by the time I get it Sony's will have the Dolby Vision update.

If the Sony has a mode where I can feed the Center Channel from my AVR to the screen, that might swing me toward the Sony A1E series.

I would expect to be disappointed even in the unlikely event that it was supported. Monaural audio coming from a stereo system can be problematic due to phasing issues.

My AVR has discrete 7.1 RCA outputs, so the input to the Sony (If it worked) would be the decoded Center Channel line-level signal. But I understand that it would complicate things given the phase in relation to the conventional speakers being driven from the AVR's amplifiers. Even the calibration process with the external mic might not be able to correct for it.

I was out looking today and while personally am leaning towards the 930E from Sony, the A1E is STUNNING. The 65" pricing in the $3500 range is just a bit much for me at the moment. Using the panel as the speakers was crazy and the OLED panel was way better than anything LG had on the show room floor. I hope you enjoy yours gadgtfreek!

I think the real issue is that if you've selected the input as HDMI1 (for example), it isn't going to accept audio on any other input. In the case of analog inputs, video and two channel audio come in through a 3-way 3.5mm plug but I would imagine those are active only when the TV is set to the analog input. I'm dubious that any modern TV is going to support what you are dreaming about due to either the lack of inputs or the more insurmountable single source issue.

I also have concerns that a calibration system would be happy about dealing with channel coming from two distinct directions (opposite sides of the display) for positions off of center in the listening area.

My panel has started the 10-day break in and then will be calibrated and shipped from VE.

I think you are going to love it. I know if I had a bigger budget I would have chosen the A1E over the 930E I have but I have to say I have no regrets with my purchase. Sony makes great sets.

Yes they do, one reason going for this instead of an LG B or C, is the Sony video processing is so good. I have an appreciation for that since having the 940E.

Looks like cal is today actually, and then I should get some charts. Will prob ship tomorrow.

Got the toy in today and got it set up. Gonna double check all my settings and inputs and then enjoy some content.
It showed up with 250+ hours on it, which was Value Electronics breaking it in before the calibration. What a well designed and sturdy tv. I was worried about the kickstand, but no more, it's a lovely flat panel.
