I've noticed that my Folding Farm has been steadily slipping in Daily Points Production. I wonder if Stanford is sending a message that they want more Tesla Volta GPUs contributing? Not intentionally, but as more GPU capability is added to the Folding Effort, Points rewards are being skewed toward the more capable GPUs. And now here comes KE4EST in another 5.3 years to take over the #1 Team position! ;)

Plus, with all the pictures and uploads to Vimeo and Google Photos I've been doing, I'm clogging the pipes for Work Unit transmission. Looking at yesterday, it didn't seem to ding me too badly.

Hmm, can get the 1060 3gb (single fan) for under $300, so may go with that...
I have one of those cards, it's great: PPD like the GTX 970 with way less heat and power used. The Precision T7400 is a beast of a box.

I hope with the price of crypto-currency dropping, it's going to get easier to find GPUs for actual MSRP.

arggghh....missed the window on buying that card! guess i'll have to run in cpu only mode in the meantime

As you are seeing, it's probably the worst possible time to be in the market for a GPU. About a year ago 3GB 1060s were going for around $180. All the prices are completely unreasonable now if you can even find a GPU in stock. Cypto-currency miners have destroyed the market.

Edit: I bought my GTX 1070 for $430 in June of 2016. The exact Gigabyte model I bought is currently listed at $799 on Amazon and that's for a used card. New cards are completely out of stock.

Don't remember if I said, but I got a $30 check last year.

I've had a T7400 for a couple of years and it runs 24/7, so far no issues. It does get a bit warm. I take it outside every month or so to the shop and blow it out with the air compressor. It helps to keep the heat down.

I don't like the looks of this trend! We did have high winds here Saturday night/Sunday morning and the power was out for some time.
