AT&T Watch

Is it possible for all these OTT services to survive? Competition is good, yes, I’m just wondering how many of these will last?

Commercials pay for it. I doubt there will be a dvr capable to record these, and it's not easy for the average person to record streaming channels and skip commercials, so they are forced to watch them.

Will this be another service you'll have to "Cast" to your TV or simply watch on your smartphone? If they include streaming bo:mad:Roku, Fire TV, etc)support it could be a player....depending on the quality/quantity of the channels.

Doesn't that seem like a step backward for the majority of folks? Most people were used to DVR-like services (pause, fast forward, etc). Are younger people OK with commercials as long as they can watch TV on smartphones and tablets?

The only thing I find myself using OTT services for is live sports. I still use my H3 to watch my movies and recorded series, because *I want to skip commercials*

Will likely be 720 video and stereo audio rather than 1080 with 5.1 surround audio. As much as we love to hate them, satellite and cable offer much better quality.

On the Direc tv now beta half the channels are 5.1. As far as 720 thats what you get for live and some 1080 on demand . The picture is as good as my Ota which is better than satellite

I don't necessarily agree. Vue gave me better quality than I got with directv or dish. A few of the others were certainly comparable as well.

I've been testing Directv Now Beta and yes, I do get 5.1 on most channels and the picture quality is as good as Directv (still have Directv). I have not seen any buffering since I moved to the Beta version. They have made a lot of improvements and I assume more will come.

Are there any restrictions recording or fast-forwarding recordings on certain channels? YouTube TV has gone from being belle of the ball (for my needs) to the absolute pits in this regard so I'm now shopping around to see if the grass is greener elsewhere.
