The 100

This one person on Reddit speculated that because she was also in a terrorist army after her SEAL service, she got the rank of "Colonel" from her time in the terrorist army.

If the showrunners go this route, I believe that Octavia is going to force Madi to become the Commander. Octavia needs the symbolism of the Commander to keep Wonkru united. It'll be interesting to see how the "Colonel" reacts when she learns about the "Commander" & the "Fleimkepa(Flamekeeper)," both of which, Wonkru has.

Edit: If I were Octavia(& the showrunners), I'd hold the Commander ceremony out in the open, where the "eye in the sky" can see all, then abruptly cut the feed off from the "eye in the sky", & then let Abby, Kane, Echo, & the rest of the "defectors" try to explain to the "Colonel" just what a Commander is.

I doubt the criminals care about the Commander or Flamekeeper. Those came long after they were put on ice, so they'll likely chalk it up to tribal nonsense. Plus Nightblood didn't phase them, as they were already aware of it being a genetic alteration to allow people to work in radiative asteroid fields.

But who know with these writers, as they've shown over the past several years that things like facts and science don't matter.

If Echo & the "defectors" react, in a way of reverence towards the Commander, then the Colonel will definitely have to do something. Blodreina is one thing, & only existed because there was no Nightblood to pass the Commander chip to, but having a bonifide Commander will surely unite Wonkru(who's going to rebel against the Commander?) & make them the enemy that the convicts don't want to face. Kane is more than aware of this, especially since he knew the last one. Wouldn't it be cool if they went this route, if Lexa would both appear to Madi & guide her?

If the "Colonel" learns enough about Grounder tradition(from Kane), & she & the other convicts have Nightblood, plus they know that the Commander Chip is still around & functional(after being fully briefed about what it does), maybe the Colonel will force a conclave, not being fully aware that Madi is a bonifide Nightblood. She'll think that the only Nightbloods are her people & Clarke.

Posting in the blind, we've been binging on Netflix, finished season 2 last night... Seems like different writers for every episode as these characters change moods/personalities at the drop of a hat. One minute tough as nails, next whiney as 3 year olds.
You'll love Clarke then, she exhibits ALL of those traits, & stays consistent about it.

Really? I've hated her since the first season and have been wishing they'd kill her off and just let Bellamy be the main character.
I work with a lot of women that would quit watching the show if Clark was gone. I don't agree with them, but they definitely make their point well.

I really hope that instead of Octavia potentially being jealous of Madi & viewing her as a threat to her leadership for being a Nightblood, the writers & showrunners allow Octavia to show wisdom & maturity in using Madi as a symbol(the Commander) to unite Wonkru against the convicts. She can claim that she's training the next/future leader/successor of Wonkru. The grounders of Wonkru may question Blodreina, but they wouldn't question the "Commander," & Octavia could really use a young, impressionable "Commander" to her advantage.

Personally, & this is an easy one to predict, I see Clarke being Clarke, & trying to destroy the Commander Chip before they try to force Madi to take it, or if the Nightblood convicts come into play, being forced to participate in a conclave where the last one standing alive gets the chip.

Ice Nation didn't seem to have a problem questioning the Commander. Even tried to kill Lexa.
But you are either Wonkru, or the enemy of Wonkru, choose.

But seriously, & as usual, you can blame Clarke for Ice Nation going against the presiding Commander, especially since they had their own candidate to take Lexa's place.
