I think that only holds merit if HBO's biggest subscriber base (in terms of percentage of all subscribers) is on Dish. I don't think HBO will be suffering all that much. I do agree that it is overpriced. I would be willing to subscribe to Cinemax, but with young children, I find late night Cinemax to be a large problem.
I think most people see all the content on Netflix and think HBO is overpriced. I'm not saying Netflix has great content. It's just the perception of more.Does anyone else remember how many people on here complained about the price of HBO when it was still $19 per month, and they were begging Dish to lower the price to $15, since that was the price of HBO's stand-alone streaming service at the time? Now, $15 is the too-high price that people here are complaining about. Oh my, how things have changed!
Oh my, things have changed. Its called competition. Netflix and Hulu wasn't all that back in the $19 HBO days. Competition is a good thing. It makes people reevaluate what things are worth.

I’m glad for all the competition to HBO that is available these days. You’re not forced to pay through the nose for HBO’s “premium” series unless you want to. Also, one can still get all the HBO content they want via other means if one knows where to go.
I said at the time that there was NO premium pack worth more than $10.00 a month. Now Showtime is up to $15.00 to match HBO. I won't subscribe to it either at that price. But either way, if I get enough off my bills by the Retention department this December, I might be able to pay the $15.00 for HBO as long as it reduces the price I have to pay for the higher locals and the yearly price hike we will all face come next February. So, you'd prefer to funnel your money to the content owners if you can save enough money from the MVPD. That'll teach the content owners from raising their prices that make our bills go up every year.
I have Amazon Prime and the streaming in many ways is better that Netflix as they have different titles Netflix does not have and it is included.
The thing I dislike about Prime video is that the service is tiered. Only certain titles are available for free. You have to "buy up" to get the others.
No..they have a Netflix like service but also have a robust ppv service with current titles

I'd say that it's very different than Netflix. Netflix has no PPV, rental, or purchase options. (Note that Netflix does still offer DVDs and Blue Ray by mail, but that too is still a subscription service.)

You don't have to be a prime member to rent a movie...prime members get the Netflix like selection included in their prime membership

I've dropped down to the Flex Pack. I don't pay Disney or Fox much money at all, especially in sports. I don't pay the locals their extortion fee. I've kept my fees at $7. I don't have any overpriced premiums. If it gets any worse, I'll stop feeding the pigs altogether.
What I'm saying is, don't buy HBO at $15 if you think it's too high, even if you save the money somewhere else.
I'm also on the Flex pack and I only pay for HBO because it was $10.00. If I can get that extra $5.00 off my DISH bill by asking for Credits then I'm going to do it. Because I do find value in HBO series tv , just not $15.00 or $19.00 worth they used to charge.
Well, you'll still be paying the full HBO $15 charge, which will tell HBO that you still find a $15 price worth it. The only way is to vote with your wallet and not let HBO get $15.
I get your point and I agree with it, but I'm sure that Dish gets a cut out of that $15, so not quite all of it goes to HBO.
