After several issues with my online account and them not fixing my Protection Plan coverage, plus Dish having more channels and better equipment, my DirecTV is gone for now. I am not ruling out ever having DirecTV again in the future, but it will be what it will be for now.

I dumped Dish about a year ago after 8 years. Two main reasons. 4K channels and overall PQ on all channels. I wasn't sure what to expect regarding the non 4K PQ but I was surprised to see how noticeable the difference was. I am curious if you notice a degradation with Dish.

Yeah, I have. But there are channels such as Epix that DirecTV lacks. I had a Genie 2 with DirecTV and I needed more than 7 tuners. So 16 tuners is awesome, plus I get features like PTAT and MultiView.

So, you watch more than 16 shows that are on at the same time ?

The PTAT thing, I seriously hope that D* Never does.

I'm sure PTAT came in very handy on the older Hoppers that had only three tuners, but it is pretty much pointless with the Hopper 3.

While it was more useful on the 3 tuner Hoppers, it is still very handy on the 16 tuner. Turn it on, it records primetime every weeknight which means a lot less fiddling with the series links for the broadcast shows that change.

Sounds like a great way to clutter up the Recordings section even more.

Prime Time Anytime is great I guess if you watch a lot of network TV. Myself, I can't stand the boring procedurals that the network try to peddle. I watch approx 45 minutes of network TV 22 times a year with Blue Bloods.

There have been many times I've needed 5, 6 + tuners. Usually Wednesday and Sunday nights.

Silicon Valley, Ballers, The Chi, Homeland, Billions, The Affair, Ray Donovan, Shameless, Berlin Station, Deep State, Trust, The Last Ship, Bar Rescue and The Great Food Truck Race are the currently active shows I record on Sundays in between 9-11PM throughout the year. Plus True Detective when it comes back. Granted many of these are on the same channel and on different times of the year, but there is some overlap. Last year Lifetime aired Mary Kills People on Sunday nights. This year they did it on Mondays. Destination America and AHC also have new episodes on occasion of some of the paranormal shows I like to watch on Sunday nights.

On Wednesdays it's Audience originals Full Circle, Mr. Mercedes and Condor. The soon to be gone Six, the limited series Yellowstone, Sinner comes back next month. And then there's South Park, TUF, American Pickers, Storage Wars and in the past various FX shows and I'm sure others I'm forgetting.

They all air in between the hours of 9-11PM, throughout the year. Most are Sunday night Showtime original programming. Plus HBO, Epix, FX, TNT, Audience, Paramount and others. Since a typical cable series runs 10-13 episodes a season with no off weeks, besides some Holidays it's easy to record so many shows, but I watch a wide variety of regular and premium cable channels, so the more tuners the better. HBO, Showtime and now Epix's key programming is always Sunday nights, FX only airs their original shows during the 10PM hour and they often run longer than 60 minutes, Friday night at 10 is Cinemax. The Discovery family of networks stages their paranormal shows a certain way between their various channels. A+E seems to stage their key programming so new episodes of big name shows aren't on at the same time on History and A&E, and probably Lifetime.

They might all show their first run between 9-11 on Sunday, but almost all of them would have multiple showings later that night and subsequent nights. You can't watch seven programs in a couple hours so it doesn't matter if some of them get recorded at a later time due to conflicts. I assume Hoppers and Genies work like my Tivo and if there aren't enough tuners to record everything at the given time, it will push back some recordings to later showing (based on the order in my season pass list)

Not that I've ever encountered that since I replaced my two tuner Premiere with a four tuner Bolt, but I guess some people watch a LOT more TV than I do!

All the Prime Time Anytime shows go into a PTAT folder so there's no 'clutter'.

And don't forget the part where on PTAT shows you can automatically skip the commercials.
