Beats me, it's just a regular everyday sat receiver firmware load, size is around 4.25 mb and a .ssu extension. I've never heard anybody mention Linux in connection with it.

Is the operating system Linux or some propitiatory system?
some guy once claimed you could open .ssu files in linux, but I never could.I think I googled .ssu and found that remark.
Clarke-tech makes a nt78326 based receiver and the firmware looks like old coolsat stuff, they even use .ndf files for their sat/channel lists. The firmware won't work on the x2 tho.
I would say proprietary os.

Here is one called Set Edit 100 from Germany that I bought for the OpenBox S-9 and also used it on the Manhattan. It costs about $30 for the registered version, but there is a free trial download that is limited to about 10 channel edits to test on your box. It seems to work on most ALI chipsets, someone with a X2 might give it a try.

The X2 is NOT an Ali chipset.
Oh, bummer! For a second or two, I thought I was going to edit my sat list with an editor that would work.
At least I got the receiver to work, unlike the problems Gunman is having.

X2 Editor?

OK, so I backed up the X2 to USB and put the stick in the computer. Started the X2 editor and went through every possible location you could open a *.ssu file. All I get is an error message box that states: "The file type is not supported by this tool!" Really!
So, for anyone that has managed to get this editor to work, how do you get it to load the backup file and where in all the various locations in that editor?

Not all editors will work with all the channel lists RT. Some of the older firmware won't generate a useable .ssu file for the newer editor, etc. I had a problem opening the March 20th .ssu file with the editor that I'm using now. So which firmware are you using? Maybe someone has a version of the editor that will work with that.

you don't load the backup file, you load the database file you save.
if you try to load a backup file it will fail every time.
You can also load from receiver via rs232

Why do you want to edit a backup?? Really!!! you need to have a DATABASE backup. If you have an old database backup you will need to load that file to the box and them make a new fresh DATABASE backup. The latest channel editor supports only backups from the last 2 firmware versions.

Firmware that was on X2 is Sept. 17, 2013.
Editor is the one from Carlospr43 post #8. Is that and old version or a new one?
OK. Found where to backup DATABASE.
Many attempts to load file ended up with an interesting error: "Parse Relation Table error, Network Number(LogicIdx16318, re(Idx150) > max number(200)"
Many attempts with rs232 on different OS on different computers and different cables ended up with no connection.
I am still baffled on how you got this editor to work.

OK, here is the latest firmware, latest channel editor and a copy of my channels database. Download and unrar all of them. Upgrade your X2 with this latest file. Erase the editor you have installed in your PC. Re-install this new one. Open the channel editor (3.0.2) , Hit FILE/ OPEN and look for the database attached called X2.ssu. Hit OK when ask, then go the TV CHANNEL TAB and you will see my sats and my channels. If everything runs OK it means something is wrong on your side.

Thanks carlospr43!:hatsoff:
It was the editor that was having a fit.
I uninstalled the editor and installed the one you posted.
I used the file I had saved earlier today and it loaded in a few seconds.
NOW I have something to work with......and have some fun with....

:)
