Frustrated by numerous program guide issues

Couple of strange issues. Missed the pregame show of the Pats game last night. Then found that the Pats game for next week was not listed. The timer was there, it was empty. Maybe it got caught up in the fiasco of the Bengals at Cowboys timer I mentioned. But an empty timer with the game still in the schedule???. Deleted the old one and setup a new timer.

I review the schedule every day. It is one thing to straighten out entries that are "incorrect", but to catch any that just aren't there is too much.

I run several searches weekly to help manage my timers. Found several strange results this week.

NCIS, which originates OTA on CBS, showed up with previously aired episodes on USA on 8/18 and 8/25 as new and original aired dates of 8/18 and 8/25.

Also a previously aired episode of "Take Two" from ABC on affiliate WMUR listed on 8/19 as new originally aired 8/19.

I only have 2 timers, one is (as of last night) triggering to record the new episode. Also, the new episode got renamed back to "BattleBots" rather than "Battlebots on Science" and got a description.
Only one of my six triggered and recorded the new episode, which is all I want. On to next week and a new timer.

Because of the FCC OTA repack, two Dayton channels (26 and 43) went off the air. Virtual channels 26 (CW) and 43 (ION) are now sub-channels of RF channel 50 along with virtual channel 2 (NBC). All three channels show the NBC program listings on Dish's guide info.

I just realized that "Con Man" on SyFy hadn't been recording lately. On investigation, I found that all episodes are marked with an air date of 2016. The stupidity marches on.

I'm curious... any of you who are having timer issues... can you go to some online schedule guide (tvguide.com, titantv.com, etc) and see if the shows in question have the correct information?

For example, if Battlebots is on tonight, take a screen capture of what tvguide and titantv have for the episode and see if it matches Dish's guide? I'm thinking the 'new' flag would be an obvious check. I'm not doubting anyone is having problems, I just wonder if it can be isolated to a provider issue or Dish.

I just looked and Rovi even has it's own online guide. Has anyone compared that?

We have issues like this in the Cleveland market, also. Fixing this does not seem to be a priority for Dish. Or perhaps they are waiting for the entire re-pack process to be done, before Dish will even attempt to start to straighten this out.

We shouldn't have to go through all this nonsense just to record shows to watch on our schedules. It is now more like a job.

I did check both today. NCIS was the only one that should have been left. It was not on TVGuide or Rovi or on our guide for that matter. Having spent a career as an analyst, I will keep your suggestion in mind.

Sometimes shows that were originally aired outside the U.S. are posted as new when aired here. I have noticed in the past that repeat episodes revert to the original date. If you do a Google search, you will find "Con Man" was a series from 2015-2017.

They repacked a few channels in DC/Baltimore last February. I am still waiting for Dish to fix the guide.

I noticed that the guide data for both of my Sony TV’s are missing data for 26.1 WBDT, 26.2 Bounce, and 43.1 ION TV. Since the channels just got moved, perhaps it will take time for the providers to update their data. I don’t know who provides the data for Sony. Dish gets their data from Rovi.

I have guide data for all my local ota stations and sub stations using my Tablo Dvr and the app on my Roku and my fire tv sticks. No longer have to depend on DISH to get them right. Save $12.00 a month by not having locals with DISH.

My Dish locals cost me $10 month since I am grandfathered. That includes PTAT with Autohop. The Tablo DVR has a 14 day guide subscription that costs $4.99 per month. So my savings would only be $5.01 per month. I would be giving up searches that are fully integrated and archived in one location. Plus my Dish is integrated on four TV’s throughout my home.

As Rhett Butler so eloquently stated: "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."
Where the problem originates is not my concern. There is a problem that has been reported to the provider. The provider is the one to figure out where the issue originates and should rectify it quickly!
I totally agree. If you're not curious about where the problem is, that's totally fine. I am. But since I don't have a problem with timers (I record very little), it's hard for me to figure it out. So I thought I'd ask the question. I'm so sorry my request put you out.

Another guide issue for tonight. My wife says tonight is the (new) reunion for housewives of New York but the guide shows it is one from years ago so it doesn't show in the timers. I overrode it so it will record but if you don't know about the error you will not get it.

I hear ya. Last couple of weeks same thing happened to me. I have a favorites list made up with on line TitanTv.com and bump that against my timers when I suspect something looks fishy.

I've been getting a mix of what it should be with programming that says it's current but just a number. Sometimes it's the right one. But most of the time it seems like it's network filler, ALTHOUGH there should be a new episode there.

But I have to say since switching to the H3 last Spring, things have been better. As far as the guide...

For the most part we are venting, I doubt anyone expects a solution after posting here since Dish doesn't monitor this site. The problem is obviously the guide data. I have at least one timer with a misspelling, not from me, but from whomever does the guide.

I paid one time fee to get the subscription for life, so no monthly fee. The tablo is my first step in shaving the cord. It’s like my own little prime time anytime Dvr. I am looking at going with either Sling tv or Directv now once my two year price lock is over in December. Depends on how much Flex pack will be and how much discount I can get from DISH to stay. Would hate to leave after almost 22 years but I have to consider keeping my costs down for tv.
