New Android TV Box by Ematic?

Don't hold your breath. Remember all of the excitement about the Channel Master Stream+ and think about how little we hear now that it is out in the wild. The Stream+ offers an OTA tuner too.

Other than possibly on the Shield, Android TV seems to not be making a lot of headway.

Agreed. I was almost a Stream+ victim. Pre-paid $99 for one only to be delayed and when finally shipped, got lost. Lucky me. I tried a Shield Pro but got a dud. Remote didn't work and ATV was a mess. Shield is kinda long-in-the-tooth now. This one (above Ematic) does have two USB ports and claims Netflix. Right now my DirecTV Sat does OTT, Locals, DVR, Guide, and HBO and Sho better than than the others and there is NO cord. Video and Audio quality is better too. They have also revived their OTA tuners and have a new USB OTA tuner in beta. I am standing pat with it and my FireTV Cube and WebOS on my LG OLED. Dolby Vision and Atmos is pretty nice on that. WebOS deserves more attention. Betting ATT will merge Sat and Now soon and ultimately vanquish the others. Not selling my Amazon or Netflix stock though and rooting for Amazon's rumored OTA/DVR efforts. With two attic antennas and Gigabit Internet I am ready for whatever befalls us. Ain't it fun?

Don't put too much into the FCC artwork. Intentions don't count for much when dancing with Netflix.

I disagree. Given that it is substantially limited to LG equipment and the open source version isn't making any waves, I don't expect that other manufacturers will pick it up. Its more satisfying to go with a streaming box that gets all the apps that come along rather than hoping for something to come to your platform. You can bet that the modular TV upgrades will never be as cheap as a Roku Ultra even if you feel compelled to buy a new one every two years. The thrill doesn't last long in a world as dynamic as the streaming business.

Shield is great now especially with the new Android update.

I have two of them, one at home and one at my office.

I just wish I could transfer files between them, if I had that feature it would be ultimate.

Given the KM8 has Android Oreo Android TV, Widevine L1 and still can't stream Netflix I wouldn't hold your breath on this new device.

The new Nvidia Shield Interface is nice.

Yep, that's the new Launcher for Oreo Android TV. Should be the same on other Oreo ATV devices although the Shield TV is probably the best.
