Frustrated by numerous program guide issues

Doing my daily review of timers, I came across a lot of entries with no information included. No description, no episode number, no date, nothing.

Also a large number of entries labeled "To Be Announced".

In the case of "Holmes and Holmes", some episodes instead of starting the description with a series name had the codes Dhah209h, Dhah210h, or Dhah211h.

Two weeks from today is when the biggest number of new shows and season premieres begins. I am not looking forward to how it will unfold.

I have a 722k and have to have several timers, or add new ones, for programs to record. I think the fault lays with the guide information.

Yes, it is clear the guide information is bad. However, when I had VIPs I could set a seek timer that would fire for any shows that had the word or phrase that I entered into the title and if I set it as "all" instead of "new" then it would record, including these shows with bad guide info, as long as the word/phrase I picked was in the title (or description if selected).
Bizarrely (to me) the H3 can't do or doesn't allow this. The so called seek timer on the H3 is nearly useless.

Try this: go to Menu, Search, and then enter your word. On the right side of the screen you will see incidence of that word. I just did the same and entered ‘Frankfurt.’ I was looking specifically for the Frankfurt football (soccer) team. I got two choices. One of those choices was Eintracht Frankfurt and it was specifically what I was looking for. I selected it and it showed me two matches. Above that there is a selection box to ‘Record All Games.’. I select that and then anytime, on any channel, that a match will be televised a timer will be set for it.

Still not good enough. The ViP would just allow you to create a dish pass (seek) timer based on just that word. No choice needed.

Rovi/Tivo is in fubar mode again. Tivo data has been missing for 2 days now, just in time for 2 of our locals to move as part of the repack, so I dont even have old data for those OTA channels at the moment

For this example, I wonder if it would have been faster to just use Game Finder.

Not really! I actually have a timers set for Bayern Munich soccer and USC football this way. I never have to look to see which channel they are on or what time, very early for Bayern, they are on. Set it once and never look again...

I stopped in here to check to see what Guide weirdness there might be, as I notice my timer for "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" wasn't firing. The guide says "Comedy Central Programming" dated 1/3/14. All the other time slots appear to be correct; "South Park" at 10:30p EDT and "The Office" at 11:30p. Same thing in tomorrow's 11:00p time slot on Comedy Central.

I agree that Seek Timers rarely work on the Hopper3. I missed "The Last Ship" season 5 episode 1 because the seek timer would not show any episodes. I have now created a standard timer for TNT "The Last Ship" and that appears to be working.

According to my guide, it looks like it returns at 11:00 PM on Tuesday, 9/18 with an episode titled "In the Foxhole" :)

As if we have nothing else to do than review our timers every day, here is today's result. The one change I noticed was the "To Be Announced" disappeared, vanished, it's gone. With the schedule pushed back by the football games, they updated the guide so recordings should work.

I looked at "Holmes and Holmes" and my reported issues were fixed, but the first two entries on Saturday are entered as "Holmes & Holmes".

Here's one: tonight at 9:00 PM, Discovery HD just says "Discovery Channel Programming" in the guide until 1:05 AM. The SD feed shows "Treasure Quest: Snake Island" in those time slots. For those who hide SD duplicates, it might be a good idea to leave them visible, in case of errors like this.

This is why I use TitanTV to compare New Episodes of my Favorites against the Hopper Schedule to make sure nothing gets missed.
Yes, but we should not have to go to another source to get the correct guide information, especially if the correct information is already available in Dish's guide, even if it is on a channel that most people would have hidden.

I agree and I have been complaining to Dish for about a year and a half about timers not recording even though the guide info was correct. Until they fix it, I double check every day using Titan.
