Was at Wal-Mart on 11/5, pushy Xfinity salesmen with new gateways and pushing the X1 Starter package with 150Mbps down were set up near the front. I was approached and mentioned I was a cord cutter (shaver.) Price quoted was EXACT same amount BEFORE all taxes, fees, equipment, and with a 2 yr contract..1 room no dvr.
Ironically I mentioned I can order identical package same price through website or C. Solutions. They immediately were pretty much done & moved on to soneone else.--N GA

You may get the same hard sell at Best Buy or Costco depending on the day of the week.

If you want to find those who are willing to spend in bulk, go where money is spent in bulk.

Those DirecTV salesman ( have not seen a woman yet) at Costco just lie so much, the last time (while looking at bigger Televisions for our new house) he came up to me and asked me if I liked that 4K picture quality, I said of course, then he says that DirecTV has more 4K channels then anyone, I asked which channels are in 4K ( I already know of course) and he says all of them, DirecTV has a special deal with all the channels so I would always get 4K, I had to walk away after that.

I engaged one of those marketroids recently. They typically know exactly what they're lying about as they have a prepared answer for most of the jabs. The one I spoke with was loaded for bear with respect to DIRECTV's RSN deficit in my area (they don't carry CSN Northwest or PAC-12), the criticism that UHD requires two boxes and that you can only have one Genie.

He didn't have an answer for the OTA issue.

I know all the promotions off the top of my head with all the providers.

Best thing to do is tell all the cable and Directv guys you have Dish and they will be all over you thinking they can get you to switch.

Try it next time, say you have Dish and it’s like putting raw meat infront of a pack of wolves.

From there, I’ll come up with an equipment scenario I know they can’t offer for free and I’ll keep on asking certain questions I know they don’t have the answer to and they usually get frustrated and walk away and find another victim to go bother.

I only do it when they come up and bother me.

Sometimes I’ll step in and correct their “lies” if they are in the middle of a sale.

If they are being truthful, I’ll sometimes even step in and help them close it.

I never will step in and take their sale, even though I can easily do it.
