Does at&t have any say with D puerto rico ?
We in the usvi have no network channels yet D blackout ST games
because it's on network channels.Dish have the networks being going
over at my neighbor all season long to watch blackout games. As soon the
season ends think i'm done, not getting what i paid for.

You’re right. That makes no sense.

Does PR get fewer DTV channels than the mainland?

I don't know a lot about it, but I watch the transponder updates on the CE site. If you are familiar with the infamous "OTA database", there is a copy of that there. The database is just a small part of the information that is available about what is up in the satellites. That's also where you see that new channels are in test mode, etc. There are also updates specifically for PR. There have been a lot recently. It seems they have a different set of contracts, and do not have the same line up as CONUS. This is what I can find for full time channels for PR. I don't know why the networks wouldn't be available in the USVI, but they are labeled "FOX Puerto Rico" for example in the description. If i C&P'ed the whole thing with the desciption here, it would not be legible, but here is the basic idea:

Edit: Again, without knowing a whole lot about it, it appears that the PR programming CURRENTLY comes from 99, 101, and 110. That is changing, like I said there have been a lot of updates regarding PR recently.

Customers in puerto rico have the networks, usvi don't.
All those channels you listed are available to us minus the networks.
Friend of mine rams fan, 3 straight weeks before this monday night
rams games were blacked out.No way to confirm this but he told me when he
called dtv the rep told him not to call back asking the same questions

Have you tried OTA? According to the coverage maps on rabbitears.info, there is decent signal in most of the USVI, but terrain will be an issue in some areas.

12-1,2,3 WTJX PBS
17-1 WVXF This
17-2 WVXF Fox
19 WVGN NBC
23 WCVI LeSea
43 WZVI Ion

There is also 22 WMNS CBS, but it appears to be off the air. This is probably why you can't get the PR locals on Directv because you have your own, even though they are not carried, they have the rights to the programming in the VI.

Terrain is the issue, all these big hills around. It's either cable or satellite forget OTA.
Dish network have the networks, directv don't ,so it's not like the locals holding us hostage.
The way i see it it's up to D.This going on since may

What happened in May? Did you have the PR networks before May? Did you ever have the VI networks? Does Dish have PR or VI networks now just so I am clear? (Sorry for all the questions, we don't hear much from PR/VI on these sites! but it is technically the same company so the answer is out there, even if it is a crappy one.)

There is probably a way you can get your networks back. Here on the "mainland" there is a process called "moving" (in quotes). "Moving" is when you move your service address to get more desirable locals, or any locals. Personally, I am "moved" to a fake address at the other end of my state that has most of my state's locals and all of the Boston locals together. It's really not that hard. First, you make sure you have the equipment you want and it's all in good working order. Then call them and tell them you moved. In your case, you would tell them that you moved somewhere on PR. You can use a friend/relative's address with an APT 1 added on or something like that. Make sure to make the address look legit, maybe apartment 1 wouldn't be a real PR address. When you talk to them, never tell them what you are doing. Tell them you moved and your new place had a dish on it, you plugged everything in and it works. They shouldn't give you a hard time. However, hopefully there aren't different rules with PR/VI, but I don't know why there would be: it's still the FCC, right? They will change everything in the computer. Your receiver at your house in the VI will think it is in PR and the locals will work. A little while after you get off the phone with them, go on your account online and change your billing address back to your real address in the VI. Be sure to not call them to come to your house if you have issues because they will go to PR. There are many "movers" around, it is a very successful thing to get away with if you don't mention it to them.

I will ask a few more questions in the other forum about why you lost your locals and if you're going to get them back.

Lets see in may D switched us over to HD .We did had networks on old system.Dish networks are from the mainland.
abc pr
fox pr
nbc vi
cbs pr
No one expected this no warning or anything .

I asked what happened on the other forum and this is what I was told by a reliable source. The news is not good, but at least this is what happened...

In May, Directv changed the satellites that Directv PR gets your programming from. To be specific, they are getting rid of the 110 satellite. In the move, it appears that they are enforcing the PR and VI local's territory. Directv does not carry the VI locals, so when they started to enforce those rules in May you were blacked out of the PR locals and had nothing to replace them. The mainland DNS (Distant Network Service) is not mirrored to PR/VI so you can't apply for waivers for NY networks.

They also provided a list with with the locals in the Dish system, are these the locals you see at your neighbors with Dish?
8 ABC - pan-Caribbean feed of WENY via WCVI 23.2 Christiansted, VI (incorrectly labeled as an Elmira channel in Dish's lookup)
10 ThisTV - WVFX Charlotte Amalie, VI (incorrectly labeled as a Puerto Rican channel in Dish's lookup)
14 NBC - WVGN Charlotte Amalie, VI (incorrectly labeled as a Puerto Rican channel in Dish's lookup)
18 CBS - Pan-Caribbean feed of WSEE (incorrectly labeled as a Puerto Rican channel in Dish's lookup)
24 Fox - Puerto Rico's WSJP 18.2 (incorrectly labeled by their previous affiliate's callsign WSJX)
60 PBS National Feed

At some point in the next few years, they will have space and it is possible they will add the VI locals on Directv. There is no way to know that now. At any rate, it does not really help you get locals. They only way you will get locals is to try "moving" to PR like I mentioned in an earlier post so they think you're there and won't black out the networks.

Only reason many of us down here have D is for nfl sunday ticket.
There is no kind of communication from them at all, cusotmer service call tell us
anything.Still have one last card to play will try contacting Alexandra Verdiales Costa.
She is the new regional vice president of external and legislative affairs for AT&T USVI and Puerto Rico.
Thank you all for the information and help

Not being blacked out anymore, don't know what happened but all games are coming through for the last month

I was actually going to ask about this, I am glad you posted. I thought there was hope for you based on the (Final?) change to the Directv PR configuration. They shuffled the Directv PR programming again to their final positioning. If I am not mistaken, this is all the pre-work to the MPEG-2 SD shutdown. Directv is stopping broadcasting from the 119 and 110 satellites and the 110 was finally "shut off" recently. 110 was for PR (and you). When they first shuffled the channels to mirror on the CONUS satellites, it appears you lost your locals then like we discussed before. A couple weeks ago, they moved the last channels off 110 and it is not being used anymore. It appears that they fixed whatever was causing the blackouts at that time. Your programming now comes from a spotbeam on the same 101/99/103 satellites that everyone else in the US uses. I assume everyone has a 5 LNB dish in PR/VI (three white eyes on the front). The 3 LNB (one-eye) system should work now. The current programming on the CONUS 119 and 95 is now being mirrored on reverse band for everyone (not sure if that's in test, or if everyone can see it. I don't have RB to see myself).

Last update the guys doing the collection did, the 119 & 95 stuff was still in test, but at the pace they seem to be moving along with this stuff I wouldn't be surprised if it is live by the end of the year.

Dish recently dropped PBS for the US Virgin Islands.

Waiting for AT&T|DirecTV PR to add Nat Geo Kids Latin America! :D

Hopefully that means we will be getting the networks back on directv in usvi

I didnt think they could drop PBS..its a must carry
According to the other site, the PBS they dropped was the National PBS feed, of which there is NO M/C requirement. It's usually carried for the few (small) local markets that don't have ANY local PBS stations that are considered to be "in-market." (eg: Rockford, IL, Abilene, TX & Palm Springs, CA are some of such markets) And the M/C rules for such markets (still) don't seem to allow carriage of any Sig Viewed or adjacent market PBS's in these orphan markets...so in these cases, the National PBS feed is carried so these markets have a PBS station at all.

Do you guys know of any reason why D can't give us the networks out of puerto Rico.
Just read in the paper local cable company said cw,abc, cbs carrier is looking for 300% fee increase.
Guess i will be watching the superbowl at my neighbor

The VI channels claim your area. You never should have had the PR locals to begin with, I don't think. You will have to try to "move" to PR like I said earlier to get them, I highly doubt Directv is going to add the VI locals anytime soon. It's been a while since they've added any markets. It sucks, I know.
