Just Canceled

There is no extra charge because it is considered part of your online subscription.

Yes but for those of us who only subscribe their cars (Jimbo?), it's extra, darn it. I would like to listen to channels that don't even exist on satellite. :(

Depends, some subscriptions include online. Also at the time to renew in the past I got them to include online. (Either it was free or a very reduced cost don't remember)

Thats the way I do it too, I order the Cars and add Online as part of the package. For me I think it was like $20 a year for the online side ... (if they can ever remember my password for it would help.)

Last time around (a couple of months ago) I asked for a year for $60 too. They refused.

And now they've emailed me the offer ($60 for a year) for another car that hasn't been subbed since 2014. They're rubbing it in. :(

Called today to cancel service on a vehicle that I just sold and to try for a renewal of my promo on the other vehicle. Got a credit for the vehicle I sold. The offer I got for 1 year of service was $72 + $13 Royalty fee (which by the way is going up) $85 for one year select package. They applied the credit to that. Better than $16 + royalty fee per month. Had 12 months for $60 + royalty fee before, would have expired tomorrow.

Ears ringing.
I just reviewed my account 2 weeks ago and decided to cancel a 1 year prepaid when it comes up on one car.

I've got a second radio lifetime with one radio renew still available + ip streaming. Got it way back when they had the polar orbit satellites.

Now I have dead zones using the geostationary sats.

So, I started using the streaming on my phone and am very happy with it.
Have a pre smartphone Tacoma so I bought a Bose micro soundlink and very happy with it. Also Great for my walks .

The more I look at it, I'm thinking sat radio is like sat TV - dying.

The various apps I have can stream all the music, news, etc I want .

Ya know, I'm sitting here deciding on what to do ...I got my Sirius on my TV thru an APP, which is nice, I now listen to more of my Sirius now that I have a way to listen in the house without paying for ANOTHER that I would use occasionally.

I'm thinking I like the old TV style much better than the Streaming version ...
At least if I turn on my Directv, I have a guide I can scan thru and pick something I see .. where as with the Streaming, you have to Know what you want to watch and then try to find it on one of the various APPs ...

If I KNOW what I want to watch, its fine ...

The nice thing about satellite radio versus apps that require data connectivity is there are very few places with no satellite reception, versus miles and miles of areas where cell phone reception is poor, spotty or non-existent And I'm not just talking country back roads. Here in NY, I 86/NY 17 is a major east/west highway that is a key route to getting to NYC from the west. It runs along the NY/PA border and goes through some pretty rural areas. There and many spots along I86 with poor coverage from all four providers. Last time I went to Pittsburgh and Wheeling about 3 years ago, there were stretches on I79 where Verizon still had 1x or 3G coverage only, making streaming anything near impossible. Only time I have problems with satellite reception is in mountainous areas. But going through the Pocono's or being on the Blue Ridge Parkway, there is very little cell phone reception.

And while I never really had to worry about data usage, there are a good amount of people out there not on unlimited data plans. A 128 k stream only uses about 60 MB an hour, but I know people who monitor every bit or byte.

While streaming audio has been around forever, I used to use RealPlayer's streaming service on dial up back in the '90s, Sirius and XM have been in the streaming business longer then most of the big names we see today. Sirius had online streaming since almost the beginning. One of their self touted perks over XM in the early days besides being 100% commercial free on the music stations, was free internet streaming, but the audio quality was only 32k. XM launched XM Radio Online in the Fall of 2004 for a couple extra dollars a month and it had higher audio quality then Sirius and included a few online only stations. In 2005, I installed the home brew Sirius and XM streaming media players volunteers created on to my Windows CE devices and had them connected to wifi and did streaming of Sirius and XM while doing yard work. So to me, while the satellite radio companies weren't the original internet radio streaming services, they were the ones that made it mainstream for me .

After buying my new Sony OLED TV recently ... I can now stream my Sirius in the house without having to purchase another radio and Sub from them ....
Finally ....

My "all access" trial is ending in a couple of weeks. I can listen in the car or stream with this package. I'm considering renewing but like almost everyone else says... way too expensive for the value received. Plus I got an email last week telling me the royalty fees are going up 2.3% this month. What package is this 6 months for $30 that y'all are talking about and what does it include?

That's the Select package.
Hmmm...but that's with the car and no streaming. Then again I found an All Access new subscriber deal on their website of $8.33/6 months for both which is similar to what I had for the trial. I wonder... I really don't want to lose listening in the car and my phone has limited data so I listen to the streaming either on my PC or the Roku app. And in the car Sirius does sound awful (I have a 2013 Lincoln with the THX II radio) compared to the streaming...all mono and metallic/swirly-sounding.
