Existing Customer Promotion

I had the simliar situation . I called in two days in a row to get the Preferred customer offer since my old one expired on the 2nd. The first time I called they said the system had a glitch and they couldn't do that yet but they gave me $10.00 off for 12 months. The second time I called back the next day they put me to the Presidents office and a woman talked to me. She said that they would monitor my account and give me the preferred two year deal as soon as my account would allow it. Last night I got an email from DISH and they said that I was eligible for an additional $30.00 off a month for a year. So now I am getting $40.00 off my account for a year. When I checked online the credits were there. So I guess I will stay with yearly credits over the two year deal, because the two year deal would only give me $20.00 off a month.
Yes, it was the same way in my case. With Flex Pack and Latino Bonus Pack, I only would have qualified for $5 off per month with the two-year deal. Instead, they gave me $10 off per month for 12 months. So, in both of our cases, we get the same total amount of credits in half the time, leaving us free to re-negotiate next year.

The bonus in my case is that the Latino Bonus Pack also comes with a $5 per month credit, thanks to the Univision dispute. So, in effect, the Univision credit brings my Flex Pack back down to what I was paying before my old two-year Preferred Customer Offer credit expired, and the $10 per month credit covers the entire regular monthly cost of the Latino Bonus Pack. So, I am paying the same amount of money for more programming, compared to when I only had Flex Pack with no add-ons.

because the two year deal would only give me $20.00 off a month.

However, the two year deal also includes a price freeze. So, when the price goes up in January of 2019 by $5 and again in January of 2020 by $5, that's another $10 savings per month.

So, what's your point? It sounds like he is already doing better than that with the deal he just got.

No need to be snarky. I didn't say he wasn't getting a good deal. I was just pointing out that the two year promotion comes with a price freeze, which is a built in reduction in addition to the $20 discount.

I agreed to the two year offer on 12/06/16. It has been two years + two days. Mydish.com has not been updated to offer a new promotion. In fact the original offer is still listed and the original pricing is still displayed. I guess it might take a few more days to automatically offer up a new promotion.

Yes, the same thing happened to me. I posted about it in post number 59, a week after my old offer expired. The old offer eventually disappeared, but a new one never did appear to take its place. If you want the deal renewed, I would recommend that you go ahead and call, rather than wait for mydish.com to get updated.

By the way, for those of you with Flex Pack who still see the old contract from 2016 listed on your mydish account, you may be interested in checking to see if your contract includes this section:

Credits

Notwithstanding any contrary terms or conditions of your Promotion Agreement and/or the Residential Customer Agreement, DISH confirms that it will provide you with a monthly account credit with an aggregate value of $240 or more (the "Credits") during a portion of the twenty-four (24) month period immediately following the date on which you accept this offer by checking the "I accept" box below (the "Credit Period").

DISH will not extend the Credit Period for any reason, including, without limitation, in the event that you participate in DISH Pause or any other program that allows you to temporarily suspend your DISH service. Except as expressly set forth above in this notice with respect to the Credits during the Credit Period, you acknowledge and agree that DISH shall have the right to change any and all prices, fees and charges at any time and from time to time (including, without limitation, during the Credit Period and any term commitment to which you have agreed).

(Bold emphasis above added by me.)

The reason I bring this up is because, as I said before, the Flex Pack deal only included a $5 per month credit for 24 months. That comes to a total of $120. Yet, the contract guarantees a total credit of at least $240 during the two-year contract period. So, if your contract is about to expire, and it includes this provision, you may want to contact Dish about this because it means that you have another $120 credit coming to you. I did not bring this up when I called Dish to try to get my deal renewed. However, I had the contract in front of me, and I was prepared to mention this if they had not offered me the $10 off per month for 12 months, which amounts to the $120 they would have owed me anyway.

wait till the original offer goes off your account then call they will give you a new one, that's what happened to me

Bill went up $2 today because the $2 discount for local channels fell off. That’s strange because it didn’t show a finite number of credits.

Thanks to all the information regarding the "preferred Customer Offer" I was able to qualify for 2 more years of price lock. I called retention at 1-888-496-1260 and the nice lady from New Jersey assured me that I did qualify and it also came with a free upgrade to a Hopper 3 and Joey 3. I also have the Silver Protection Plan free for 3 months. I'll most likely ditch the protection plan.
The H3 installed and downloaded U514 and today it has been updated to U528. I have 2 issues with the dual OTA adapter and my external hard drive being recognized properly. I'll post in other threads to discuss those issue.

I was able to call and get the preferred Customer Offer as well. It shaves $28 per month off my bill and is locked for 2 years (so no increase on 1/15). I was also able to get my jankey Joey 2 upgraded to a 4k Joey for free today. I also got the protection plan for free for 3 months.

For those who are getting the protection plan for free for three months, I wonder if you are still required to keep it for six months before you can cancel it without any penalty. I would hope that Dish would allow you to cancel it after the free three months, otherwise this offer is just setting you up for a charge three months from now.

If you don't mind sharing, where does the $28 come from? I understand that there is a $10 discount off of a channel package, $5 for autopay, and $5 for the Hopper. What accounts for the other $8?

Thanks.

Chat representatives are very limited in what they can offer. You have to call to get the better deals. Start by calling 1-888-496-1260. That will get you directly to the Loyalty Department. If you still are not satisfied with what they offer, ask for the Office of the President. They should be able to take care of you.
Just do the Facebook chat. Works for me everytime.

I think it is from the protection plan being free for 3 months - that is around $10 per month. I had $2 per month get added back on for local channels and that discount does not appear to be included in the new promo. So $10 off - $2 back on = $8

The guy I talked to said it would auto-renew after the three months was over, but I could call or go online to mydish and remove it for free. I have had it for several years (since starting with Dish many moons ago) so I will have had it for more than 6 months at that point. I am not sure if I will keep it or not, I have used it in the past for tech visits and equipment replacements - but $10 per month is more than I want to spend.

Eureka!!

My bill went up this month by $5 since it dropped the Autopay discount. I wasn't out of contract until next month but I called Customer Retention. I got a VERY nice and knowledgeable CSR in New York. He helped me negotiate everything but we got cut off when he sent me to the automated system to confirm the agreement. After calling back I got another very knowledgeable CSR in Colorado who helped me complete the transaction.

Before:
24 month commitment with price lock and autopay
AT120+
(1) Hopper3
(3) Joey 2.0's
$96/month total

After:
24 month commitment with price lock and autopay
AT120+
(1) Hopper3 (same box I currently have)
upgrade (3) Joey 2's to Joey 3.0's
all equipment lease fees the same as before
waived all upgrade and tech visit fees
Dish Protect Silver free for 3 months (cancel before 90 days without a penalty charge)
$98/month total

The slight difference is because of the way the taxes are calculated. My Tech Visit is scheduled for late next week so we'll see how it goes. Overall I am thrilled with the way it turned out. I am keeping a plan that we are happy with at the same guaranteed rate I had for the last 2 years and getting my TERRIBLE Joey 2's updated for free (I have backup 40.0 remotes but asked for the 54.0 to try them out too)!
