I had pixilation issues with a wireless joey, it showed decent signal strength. Ended up figuring out there was a channel/signal conflict between the WAP and the Wireless Router, changed the settings on the router to a static channel and my pixilation issues went away.
Well since I posted about this problem it has not happened again. I did check my ota adapter though and it wasn't very warm and is ventilated well. Hopefully it was just a bug and it worked itself out.

Well my pixelation problems have not gone away.
Things I have tried.
1. I hooked all Joey's up by Ethernet to see if not using the moca network would help and that worked well for awhile then the pixelation returned and unplugging the ota adapter stopped the pixelation as expected.
2. Ordered a new ota adapter. Same night I installed it the pixelation returned.
3. Moved ota adapter completely out in the open so it doesn't get hot. It never feels warm when the problem is happening so I don't think it's a heat issue.
I am beyond frustrated with this problem. And at a loss for what to try next.

I think it may be time to get a Dish Tech. in there to troubleshoot the problem. You've done everything you could to resolve the issue.
I'm no tech but it seems to me that if you're having problems with all channels on your Joey's and not just OTA that it has nothing to do with OTA. If the Hopper is fine then it kind of rules out sat. signal quality also. My guess is that it has something to do with your MOCA setup. Maybe bad coax or connectors?

It works perfectly fine when the ota tuner is disconnected, it is very confusing to me also. My next step is to get a tech, but I have tried that before and when I called in they just did all of the diagnostics on the phone and said it was working correctly.
Sounds like you need to swap out that Hopper. That will probably fix the problem but even if it doesn't then at least you'll know the problem is not the Hopper. If you can't get them to do it on the phone then get a tech out to do it. Good luck.
Try resetting the network in Network Settings. Someone just posted today on the portal about Joey Pixelation and that fixed it. He thinks a software issue is causing Moca to degrade.
Edit. I just read that you said removing the OTA adapter fixes it?? Sounds like the adapter is overheating

I've been having this problem for months now. The main TV directly connected to my HWS is always fine, but at night when I turn the TV off and move to the bedroom (wired Joey 2) most nights, but not every night, I experience pixilation that worsens if I do nothing.
I discovered I can get rid of the pixilation by changing the channel to an OTA channel for a bit then that seems to clear it up and I can move back to the channel I was watching. Sometimes I have to do this a couple of times to clear it up. Same procedure applies for my wireless Joey.
I initially wondered if my HWS was beginning to fail but it now seems to me to be a software issue, but I'm no expert. It probably began with one of the software releases

A tech replaced my Hopper 3, the exterior cable that goes from the diplexer or multiplexer to the hopper (from dish antenna to Hopper), and he replaced the OTA dongle to the bigger one. THe issue remains with OTA or dish channels. I have a couple of new Joeys coming my way to swap mine out as a desperate step, but it sounds like doing so probably won't fix anything.
My OTA dongle is in a semi ventilated area, but I admit that it could be better situated. I will disconnect it the next time the pixels come out to confirm, and obviously I will lose the OTA signal at that time.

There should not be a diplexer in the line to the Hopper. If there is, that's a problem
I replaced my ota adapter thinking the same and within an hour the joeys were pixelating again, it never feels warm when I touch it. I believe it is software related because it worked fine from august until December. Also I connected all of my joeys to Ethernet and unhooked the coax which if I am thinking this out correctly takes them off the moca network and they still would pixelate.
That is pretty much identical to my issue. Never tried switching to ota channel I'll give it a try.
Give it a try. When it first began doing this, to clear up the pixilation I would do a red button reset on the HWS, but then I discovered getting off the Hopper tuners and onto the OTA tuners then going back eliminated the need for that red button reset.
I should add that I have one of the original OTA dual tuners that runs hot but doesn't give me any problems because it's well ventilated.
Yes, I am having the same issue as well. Had a tech out over the weekend. Replaced my Joey 2 with a Joey 3. That did not help. Tech tried to say that my wiring was faulty. Wanted to run new wires and put more holes in my walls. I said no thanks but wanted to try the wireless joey option. Worked great until the next day when I had reinstalled the OTA Sling duel adapter. Now unwatchable from the wireless joey, Hopper 3 is fine. Guess I go home this evening and unplug the OTA adapter and see what happens.
Ok everyone, I need some thoughts/help/further troubleshooting ideas.
I went home, unplugged the OTA module. Unplugged my H3, unplugged wireless Dish distribution box connected to H3 by Ethernet plug & unplugged wireless Joey. Plugged back in all 3 and let them go through their restarting process. The H3 works fine. The Wireless Joey says it has a fluctuating 40% to 50% signal (shows as green on the settings screen) and works fine for about 30 seconds to a minute then starts pixilating and then locks up and is useless(but the signal level remains at 40 to 50%). I can try moving the wireless boxes closer but was told by the tech when he installed everything that if you kept the signal above 40% to the wireless Joey, you should be fine. I have unplugged everything else from the TV that the Joey is connected to and the HDMI cable is new(provided by the tech when he did the install). I do not think it is the HDMI cable because the menu and settings screens for the Joey are NOT pixelating and show just fine.
Really do not want to sit at home for another 1/2 day waiting on a tech if I can figure this out on my own.

I am having similar problems too on my Joey's. It is almost like the opposite of the old OTA breakup problems. Now everything (live and recorded programs) breaks up horribly EXCEPT for the OTA channels. Resetting the Hopper seems to fix the problem, but it is extremely annoying nonetheless.

I believe this to be a software issue that was most likely caused by one of the CUI updates. And yes, it is annoying.
I was having the same type of issue with my wireless joeys (pixilation with decent signal strength). Kept resetting network, hopper, joey, etc... I finally deduced that it was a wifi conflict between the Dish WAP and my wireless router. I changed the wireless router to a static channel and chose a channel that wasn't used much and have not had an issue with it at all since.
