Directv installed wireless transmitters (wireless genie mini C61W-400 and more) on every tv in my family's house...
this is an absolute health disaster and was incredibly obvious the instant i entered the house the first time after it was installed... and since it was installed my father has developed cancer...

How do we switch the Directv setup to be without any Wifi signal?

Which Genie do you have? The minis would have to be exchanged for regular ones.
 
This has got to be a joke Nevermind there is zero evidence to support home WiFi causing cancer. The c61w-400 just came out last year.

With the amount of WiFi signals floating around in my house we should have all had cancer by now. I have two DIRECTV WVB's (the HS17 and external) and three wireless clients and no sign of cancer around here.
 
Wow that didn't take long.

I've been using wifi since 2002 with a wireless B Motorola router. All of my various routers and APs have sat on top of my desktop PC, or mounted to the wall right above my PC, or 3 to 4 feet from my head as I sit at my desk. For the past six years at work, the WAP that covers my wing of the office is 5 feet behind my desk. 17 years of wifi exposure and still cancer free...

Regardless of the reason, catob wants to switch to a wired setup. If you can help with that, fine. If not, no other discussion is necessary.

The answer to that question then is to run coax from the Genie to each client location and replace the wireless clients with wired ones. But be warned that DIRECTV will want to charge for doing this and you'll get a new 2 year commitment.
 
Does a wireless client also have a connection for wired? Not having one I don't know.
 
Just saying, the WiFi that DIRECTV uses isn't really any different then the WiFi that your router and laptops/phones/tablets are using, just that it's a network that you're not allowed to connect to. See back at the pic I put in post #5, if you look at the lillian (which is one of my home networks) network and the DIRECTV_WVB just above they're both using the AC/N WiFi standards. That said, you just need to call DIRECTV and tell them you want to replace your wireless clients with wired, and have your HS17 swapped out for a HR54 (and you'll lose all your recordings) but be ready to pay for doing that.

I did say that they would have to replace the HS17 with a HR54 in my reply.

signs of poor health, harmful environment and sickness don't always show up as physical cancer...
sometimes they show up as being a fan of car racing and being proud to be an american
 
Sounds just as crazy as this lady we have around here trying to get rid of smart electric meters.

I fought my power company thinking my analog meter was running slow.

Then one day they switched it without my permission and my bill went down $300.

Guess the old meter was running fast
