The Orville on Hulu

First, IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!
Second, maybe all the touchy/feely eps with static sets and low CGI (low cost) were necessary to pay for the intense (high cost) CGI for this.

Yet somehow I feel like the high quality cgi in yesterday's episode of Orville still cost much less (and also looked more like Star Trek cgi) than what Discovery spent and produced for their cgi, despite having at least double the budget.

I was finally able to watch Thursday’s episode. After we finally get to see the Kaylon home world, I wonder about a great many things.
The biggest is why such an intellectually advanced construct as the Kaylons would not have eliminated the humanoid form as being inefficient and too restrictive to allowing them to advance past their current physical form.

I figured Issac was shaped as he was to ease interactions with the crew of the Orville.

They just haven't quite figured out how to do that as of yet. I'm sure it'll likely happen in their future.

They needed a "Data/Spock" character for the Orville. He just happened to be more Cylon, than anything else, and they did it well enough they fooled us all.

Galaxy Quest (Orville dragging Theta bombs) undertones.

I am unable to Google that one. Can you try expressing that thought again? (Galaxy Quest was the DVD I accidentally returned to Best Buy along with the crappy player I bought from them. :()
Every time I hear Issac's home world mentioned, Kylon, I think of Kraylon ...

Krylon the paint? Kryolan the makeup?

You've NEVER seen Galaxy Quest? What's wrong with you? Go IMMEDIATELY to wherever you get your videos, get it, and watch it. You are going to love it.

You have been severely deprived of your post Star Trek lore...

No no! I bought it, watched it, enjoyed it thoroughly and more than I expected, and accidentally lost it in a DVD player I returned to Best Buy.

OK, I re-read the plotline of GQ and it dragged magnetic mines into Sarris's ship and destroyed it (but not Sarris.) So, was the Orville dragging Theta bombs? I thought those were independently piloted. Now I'll have to go watch O again.

So then I don't get your question? You don't remember the scene where the Galaxy Quest is dragging the space mines, and they use them to kill Sarris and his ship?

Classic Kirk/Khan stuff maneuver.

Ha! I edited my post above to include that part which apparently you did not see. No, they did not kill Sarris himself. ;) So now I don't know how this relates to the Orville.

Oh yeah, forgot he beamed down on the stage, and they vaporized him.

Anyway, what does it matter whether the Orville was "dragging the mines" versus they are independently piloted? Still has GQ overtones.

I believe he beamed aboard the Protector, where he was merely knocked out and not killed, only to rise up and come out of the command module once it had crash landed into the stage.

OK, I watched the end again, and it did appear Orville was in the lead. If those are called theta bombs, I missed it. :(

The Orville guys were concerned earlier because they "detected theta radiation" they tracked them to those ships/mines/whatever they were being constructed. They mention how dangerous theta radiation is to organic lifeforms. They destroy all organic life, but LEAVE all the buildings, etc alone. Completely stolen from Star Trek

Theta radiation

Ok guys, I was thinking; "How could they wrap all this up, and still have Isaac come back to the Orville". Then I figured it out when I remembered they opened him up and reprogrammed him back to "life"...

We are possibly being played.
