Not sure how many affected

For the third time in three years, the Fox broadcast channel has been blocked for some Syracuse-area TV subscribers. Fox Syracuse was removed from the DirecTV lineup on Friday, Feb. 22, amid a dispute with the television station’s owner Northwest ...
Fox Syracuse removed from a TV provider for 3rd time in 3 years

I'd guess the number of affected DirecTV subscribers is less than 10,000.

On a side note if you get a AM21 or the forth coming Network adapter and connect it to a DirecTV DVR you will be able to tune your local channels from their Over the Air Local Broadcast signal. You would also receive all your local Channels' Sub channels in addition, as well as be immune to; weather related satellite outages, and most importantly Programing Re transmission disagreements with ALL your local channels.

“When contract disputes arise over station owners’ unnecessary increases in what you should pay for these free over-the-air stations, DIRECTV will never remove them from your lineup," DirecTV said in a statement. "Station owners may try to avoid their responsibilities to you but make no mistake: the station owners are the only ones who can decide to take away your local stations.”

Speaking of the AM21, are you in the Cleveland market? They were updated the other day and many more subchannels are in the AM21 database.

Same here in Binghamton. I'd think that the advertisers would be upset that their ads aren't being seen.
Also, if you don't have an AM21, try the Fox Now app.

It's really hard to believe that it is taking them so long to update that database, it's like an intern is doing it one station at a time, and they're probably part-time at that.

They sure seem in no rush to launch the LCC. Testing hasn't expanded, the marketing test in Vegas isn't as prominent on their site as it was (now it's just a mention, the pricing is no longer shown at a discount for using a local connector), and there has been no reports of progress in supporting the LCC on the HS-17. You would think in a time of prices continuing to escalate that they would go after a way to stop paying so much in local retransmit cost (or to even start reducing it), and to be able to offer a package at a slightly lower price. Dish has made the $12 locals optional for what, at least a couple years now. (Though I'm still surprised they don't promote that as an option on their site).

My cable company now lists just under $15/month for local stations. Directv is much bigger so I'm sure they do better, but that's a lot of savings for the 50% or so if customers who could probably pick them up OTA.

Cox just raised the below the line locals fee to $10 this month. I would gladly do away with them for the savings. Locals are easy to get with an antenna around here.
