Several weeks ago, I posted that I could just move a receiver from my MD address to an address in DE for the 5 months that we would have between taking ownership and our permanent move. Just got off the phone with a CSR and was told that is not the case. I would have to set up a second account. The only reason that I have DTV is because of the sports packages and it is not worth it to me to pay for 2 accounts for 5 months. The house in DE is already wired for Comcast, so although I will lose some of the channels in the Regional Sports Package and Sunday Ticket, my over 20 year relationship with DTV will come to and end in September. Adjustment is never easy and even harder when you are an over 70 sports fanatic. Betterf make sure I have enough adult beverages on hand.

Wish I could. But, the tv that we are moving is set up on a mini. I don't want to lose service at my present home, since that is where we will be spending most of our time until September

Yeah ....

The reason the CSR says that is because "technically", per your customer TOS, you're not allowed to have activated receivers on the same account at two different addresses at the same time.

You would have to deactivate all the receivers at one or the other address.

So just do as MH'ers/tailgaters/campers and move the box and don't say anything. But remember if you do it this way you won't get the correct locals for DE as the box will obviously still be authorized for MD locals.

you can move them back and forth

as was said one location at a time

it was much easier to do what you want when there were actual receivers and no minis

Im confused by the OP. Is there a dish installed at the second location and will the first location be deactivated? Why not just do a move to the new location.

His wife will be at the old location for 5 months. It's the same family, not like he is account stacking in the real sense.

Does DirectTv equipment allow you stream from your home system to your remote location?
Similar to 'dish anywhere' streaming.

It used to, but mine stopped working out of my network a while ago. What's the point of having it at all then?

No one would ever expect Comcast to let them have service active in two houses at once for the price of one, so I don't get why people are bent out of shape over Directv not encouraging it.

I don't even think a receiver would work in a different franchise area.

Could you stream at the secondary home? Decent internet? Your Directv subscription gives you access to most things through streaming apps. Especially sports. Fox Sports GO, Watch ESPN, NBC Sports, etc may meet many of your temporary location viewing needs. Perhaps just adding a Roku or other streaming device could take care of that place.
