I watched STE on Netflix and it was OK. Still have a severe STE audio lag on Amazon though.

I changed my mind and decided to keep Netflix but I went to a cheaper sub. Anyway, now I'm getting audio dropouts on Amazon. Not getting my money's worth! Streaming services stay the same or get worse while costs increase. What is one to do?

Well, given the number of times I have seen people complain about similar issues with Dish, DirecTV, Cable STBs, and other things, it just seems to go with the general territory, and you are the one currently having the bad luck. This is one of the big reasons I kept my Netflix DVD subscription for so long -- because I could be guaranteed a consistent playback experience.

Even that wasn't guaranteed. I used to get non playable discs all the time.

I think I got one once that was scratched to hell. It was towards the end of my subscription, and I think they quality control was starting to slip. I still no people who subscribe though.

Interesting. Now Highlander is out of audio sync while Star Trek Enterprise is in sync. What's going on?

I had an out-of-sync Cube so I bought a Stick 4K. Seemed better but for all I know these shows could be originally recorded in Martian and will never sync. My solution was using Prime Video on my LG OLED WebOS TV. It also passes Netflix and Vudu Atmos and does Dolby Vision in addition to HDR10. Really nice TV too.

I stream Amazon often, and in 4K UHD HDR with zero problems from a couple of movies to many of their original content shows. I stream on my 4K stick mostly. At times I may use my Samsung TV app or my laptop (Laptop not 4K). Virtually never do I have a problem and never with audio. The only thing that happens when I first start a 4K UHD HDR program it may take a couple of minutes or less for it to be 4k, I have seen shows start as 1080P.

I'd be looking at something in your LAN (start with the router) or an issue with your broadband provider. Too many people aren't having problems to be systemic.

From what I've been reading in the Roku forums, it's a problem with the latest firmware upgrade. Well, that doesn't explain the problem being in the web browser also. But, trying to work with the ISP isn't something I want to do - I'd rather just live with the annoyance or just stop watching. I've upgraded the router firmware about 5 times in the past 30 days so I doubt that it's a router firmware issue - the router uses dd-wrt firmware so it gets updated frequently and no one else has reported streaming issues.

I noticed the issue several months back on Roku's and Amazon. I no longer use Roku for movies (Nivida Shield ) so can't comment if it's gotten worse. All my prime channel subscriptions are through Amazon Prime, love it works great everything has 5:1 surround with no buffering unlike some of the apps. Especially Starz app was really bad with buffering every 10 minutes.
