I still cannot watch the 4k channels 540.1, 540.2 and 540.3 i tried sending message to dish 2 on facebook 1 on Dish help center and 1 on here to Samantha with Dish support. I have not got a answer from none of them my tv shows no signal and my Hopper 3 locks up i have to reboot to get it unlocked this has been going on ever since i had the Hopper

ok folks to watch the channels on 540-02-03 you must have a 4ktv that does high dynamic range (HDR) the newer tvs are 4k hdr so you have no problem.540-01 is reguar 4k.

I have a Sony XBR75X940E. On mine HDMI inputs 2 and 3 are the only ones that will process full 4K inputs. If yours is similar make sure you are using either 2 or 3.

That is a misnomer, all 4 HDMI inputs on a 940E will handle 4K DV at 30FPS/60FPS as long as it isn't using 4:4:4 chroma subsampling, something your H3 does not do. The most common source of a 4:4:4 signal that will have issues with ports 1/4 will be computer gaming and a few 4K bluray disks. Also ports 2/3 will not handle higher speeds unless you specifically configure them as "enhanced".

As I was reading through these comments, I checked my H3 guide and I don't even see channel 540. I have the Flex package, so just to clear my on mind...Should I see channel 540?

Thought I would check my Dish account. It shows 540-1, 50-2 off air at present. Channel 540-3 has a basketball game. I'm thinking maybe I need to different package to receive this channel?

I checked this out, but being my A/V is not 4K capable I get an error. I am working on getting a 4K/HDR HDMI splitter for when I want to watch something in 4K. This is cheaper than getting a new A/V receiver.

540-03 is not HDR for NCAA Basketball.

My surround sound, a Sony STR-KS370 vintage circa 2010, which acts as a switch for Blu-Ray/TiVo Bolt and H3. The manual does not even mention 4K but I have no trouble getting a picture on 540-1 and 540-3 to my Samsung UN65JU6400, an non-HDR 4K TV. I presume if the signal on 540-1&3 were not coming through 4k I'd either get an error on the TV or no picture, right?

I suppose since if it just passes the HDMI signal through to the TV that it does not matter??

I was having TV blanking issues with brand new 4K TV. Boiled down to either my AVR or the 4K HDMI cables. Not exactly sure which because I updraded both at same time. While testing, I went straight from H3 to TV for almost two weeks and never had blanking issues. Since upgrade, no issues on any channels. Just a thought. 8-9 years on electronics is getting dated.
