Don't know as I haven't really tried to do it. I suspect the answer is yes as the Tablo site talks about the guide containing metadata, what good is metadata other than searching and grouping. I'll try to check when I get home.

Thanks, its probably right in front of my face but I can't find it

Edit: found it. Apparently you have to use a PC for the search function.

I think tablo just went back and grandfathered existing subs back to the lifetime transferable subscription. They sent me an email the other day.

Also I have had really good success with the remote viewing on my dual tuner Tablo. Didn't see anyone mention that but I could have missed it.

So far so good with Tablo. It's all set up, scanned in all available channels on the first try, guide info is available for all channels except Univision. I scheduled a bunch of timers over the next couple of days; we'll see if they all fire. I don't like the lack of search functionality in the iPhone and Roku apps, but it works on PC.

Submit a request for function on the Table support site, they have been very responsive and implement ideas from users. They sometimes even explain if they can't do something,

Cheddar_Head do you know if there's a way to search the Tablo guide?
You can do a Movie search and it will bring up all the movies on your stations. Under that setting you can select genres or by channels or by ratings. You can do a sports search and it will bring up all the sports on your channels or by specific channel. You can do a search for tv shows or prime time tv shows and everything will come up fitting that criteria and you can select new or premiering or genres or by channels once again. You can also type in under the search link any specific show or movie or sports that you are looking for under those menus. I think that pretty much gives you many options to search by.

I use the tablo app on my adroid phone, my I pad and my 4k roku stick and my 4k Amazon fire tv stick. I can watch it anywhere.

The Android TV interface has a search function. I just tried it out, a bit of a pain with the on screen keyboard but it is there.

I’ve come to love the Android TV interface. It has a very effective voice search feature. Not perfect, but very good. I’ve spelled out letter by letter and had the search work.

I like it so much I am considering getting a voice remote for my Roku Premiere.

Just an update on my final post-Dish TV decisions. After trying several different set-top boxes and software programs, I've settled on the AirTV. The interface is easy to navigate on all platforms, the guide is 100% complete and accurate, the "Sling" functionality works great. The unit is currently located at the data center at my office, because the broadband upload speed is faster, and because more channels can be received OTA at that location. I have a WD 2 TB self-powered USB drive connected for DVR functionality. I'm doing test recordings again to see if timers will fire correctly, but even if they don't, I'm so happy with the GUI and the tuner that I'm keeping it anyway.

To give you an idea of the outstanding sensitivity of the AirTV's tuner, compare my OTA scan results as collected by an HD Homerun Connect tuner:

Stations KMOS and KQTV often hover around the 48-52% signal quality level. When trying to view these via the HD Homerun, you'd get pixelating or no picture at all. On the AirTV, these 2 stations are rock solid. It's tuner ROCKS.

At home, I can watch the AirTV channels via Roku. I also have an OTA antenna at home which is connected to my FTA receiver to watch live TV.

All around not bad for FREE! :D

Anyway, I hope all this experimenting helps others who are considering a similar move :)

I've settled on the AirTV.

So, question on the AirTV. How does it do overlap? For example, If I have:

1. A recording scheduled from 7:59-9:02 on channel 5.
2. A recording scheduled from 8:59-10:02 on channel 5.
3. A recording scheduled from 8:59-10:32 on channel 11.

Will it use a single tuner for #1 and #2, or will that cause a conflict?

I went through my list of recordings and determined that I really don't need more than a couple of tuners if overlap is handled properly.

Although I do not have an AirTV, I don't see how one tuner can record two channels at the same time.

My two tuner HDTiVo will ask if I want to clip the beginning or the end of overlaping programs if both tuners are not fully available for recording requested programs.

The AirTV has 2 tuners

ncted's scenario presumed that but for a short time three programs would have been trying to record on two tuners.

I've heard of two programs back to back on the same channel record with only one tuner and keep the overlaps intact by using software to duplicate the end of the first program onto the beginning of the second program. Doesn't / didn't DTV tuners do this as some point instead of a hard cut from one program to the next?
