Back from NAB. Photo's of 8K does no justice and the NHK demo was phenomenal. I just happened by luck to run into Charlie. I was on my way to the Society of Broadcast Engineers national meeting and decided to stop by to snap some photo's of the ATSC 3.0 Phoenix test market information enroute to that meeting and realized that Charlie was standing right next to me. I have always considered Charlie a friend, and have the at most respect for him. I don't care who you work for you have to acknowledge everything he has done for this industry and the fact that he is a pioneer of this industry deserves respect on its own merit. You can imagine why Charlie is interested in ATSC 3.0 and how it would affect the wireless network he is planning on building out. Let alone the impact on the local collection of channels at Dish and Sling. This is something that both companies will need to figure out as in 5 years Phoenix will be exclusive ATSC 3.0 and other markets following a few years afterward. Seeing Charlie is like seeing an old friend. Yes, he is getting older and seems much like his younger self. It was really cool to see him and at least say Hi and a big Thank You for everything he has done.
And NO Scott, I wasn't trying to pick his pockets! LOL . It was cool seeing him and all of my industry colleagues from Dish and Echostar with him.

I had an eight foot dish mounted on the south facing side of my roof that was invisible except from the open field behind my house. Had it paired with a Replay for a while.
Charlie is a very low key, self made multi-millionaire. He really deserves more recognition as a hard working sales and businessman than he gets.
Kinda like Elon Musk with out the attitude or the arrogance. And a bit more willing to use his own money.

Perhaps you don't know that Charlie is famous for being frugal. He often brings lunch from home to work.
Rich people put on their $1000 dollar pants just like the rest of us, 1 leg at a time.
Hey I like the Walmart pants with a little excess room in the crotch area and they sell for only $10.00. I get all my pants from them. Can't stand those damn skinny leg jeans that are really just jeggins. See young guys wearing them and they have a big droopy butt area and they look like they are sewed on the rest of the legs. Ugly stupid look .Charlie's pants probably come from Walmart, like mine do.
