new edision os mio 4k issues

I found that the blue button on the remote will show hidden menus. There was only one that I've found useful - software update that was hidden.
The TNAP image purposefully does not provide an online update, so the menu was hidden. :)

TNAP is meant to be an introduction to Enigma2 for North American users, providing a tested and stable image for those wishing to simply use the STB as it was delivered or to replicate an appliance STB. Once E2 operation basics are understood, I would assume that most hobbyists will migrate to other multiboot images, which provide frequent updates from the repositories and introduce new functions/features.

Does this STB have streaming SERVER capability? I haven't found anything so far.

Yes, works great on a LAN, but no transcoding not suitable for low bandwidth internet streaming. WebIF, VLC, PotPlayer, MXplayer, etc. are often used or some prefer a smartphone / tablet app. An Enigma2 client could be added to Kodi on any device. Port 8001

Was watching the CBS 4:2:2 primetime programming earlier this evening via the Android phone with DreamDroid app. For a bigger live stream screen, cast to the Samsung TV. :)

Thanks for mentioning DreamDroid. I installed it on my Android phone and it works. Only problem was that I use a VPN on my network and had to turn it off in order to connect to the STB. I'm looking into installing OpenVPN onto the os mio, if it's possible. I need to look into adding the Kodi Enigma 2 client, also. But I was hoping to be able to use VLM (VLC) to stream but it's not as easy as I would have hoped. Sure wish it was a slam dunk to do this stuff.

The Enigma 2 pvr plugin didn't work - kept crashing and saying that the plug in couldn't be loaded. I'm going to work on getting VLM to work since it doesn't take over the PC like Kodi does.

I'm using OpenVIX and I didn't need a separate plug-in for the PVR/DVR to work. Just connected the EHD, rebooted, and it worked

The Vuplus/enigma2 plugin hasn't been working for me in Kodi for about two years. Was researching some today on it. It will not load for me. Vlc through webif works fine, though.

After downloading a list of available plugins, I get a lot of error messages similar to this when trying to install a plugin: opkg_prepare_url_for_install: Couldn't find anything to satisfy 'enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-softwaremanager'

Near as I can tell from searching the web, it's an indication that a repository or multiple repositories are missing.

If you are using the TNAP image, an updated version will be released shortly based on current build. Will post when it is available. It will need to be loaded via USB and will allow your current settings and files to be reloaded.

If you wish to explore E2 beyond the basic TNAP image operation, you should consider installing another image in one of the multiboot slots, which supports frequent updates. Some images like OpenPLI or OpenVIX have nightly updates.

If you like the interface and operation of TNAP, I recommend the SatDreamGR image with the Glamor Aura skin. This will closely replicate most functions of TNAP and provide regular updates. There will some default and menu text differences, including refresh and resolution settings.

I second that.

With 4 slots, you can always have your main image you use daily, and a duplicate in another slot. Play with the duplicate while you are learning E2 instead of your MAIN image. It's like having 4 receivers!

If you accidentally mess up something on your duplicate image, you can easily be back up and running in seconds on your main image while you figure out what happened.

I need more detailed info on operating this receiver. Some is intuitive but some requires experimentation. I hope that I won't have to spend a bunch of time searching through forums for answers. Overall, I do like this receiver. Linux based receivers seem to be better conceived. By the way, the Glamor Aura skin is a nice skin. I wonder if there is a Star Trek themed skin.

This really isn't a receiver for beginners. If you want something easy to use, get an Amiko :)

There really isn't that much information out there as of yet on this specific receiver as it's very new to the market. However, there's a lot of information out there on Enigma2 receivers in general.

I knew NOTHING about these when I first bought one and got in it February. Since then I've read around, played with it, and learned a ton of information. Much of which I've posted right here on the forum in various threads.

IF you are motivated to learn more, you are going to have to do what I did, and read every thread you possibly can. I've taken notes on things, and I have those saved on my pc for reference. Good info, bad info, not so sure info, it's all good learning what others have done good, done bad, and what they did to get it working.

We are ALL learning these receivers together. IF you learn something you don't think anybody else has posted about, please post about it yourself and let us know. That way we will all benefit from the whole knowledge to learn how to do things.

Here's some things I've gathered in my searches. Hopefully they post:

OpenPLi Wiki

Lots of info at that Wiki above, and NA SDGr image is based on OpenPli, so much applies.

Sat Dream Gr - Satellite Support Forum << this is the Main SDGr forum website, so much of this is for European users, but is the main base image for our NA version.

No thanks to the Amiko suggestion. I'm not a beginner and I'm an advanced Linux user - that said, I don't consider myself to be an expert at anything (a disclaimer for the trolls). I just don't want to "push the wrong button" due to lack of documentation and have to start all over with a factory reset. And I don't want to spend a bunch of time trying to find answers over several days (sometimes weeks) especially when someone already knows the answer and could save me a lot of time. Contrary to popular belief, I do have a life outside of watching TV. This mio is impressive and I haven't found any serious issues with it other than lack of documention that's grouped in one place. I might just buy another one for my other antenna. It certainly is better than the GeoSatPro microHD and Linkbox 9000i. Next thing you know, I'll be buying my first 4K TV.
