Whoa!

To our U-verse TV and DIRECTV NOW customers
Our rights to provide the NFL Network in your TV lineup have expired. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

The NFL Network and RED ZONE CHANNEL® remain available to all fans on DIRECTV. However, as we continue to manage content costs, we could not reach an agreement with the NFL to continue to carry those channels on U-verse and DIRECTV NOW.

AT&T TV Promise | DIRECTV, DIRECTV NOW, U-verse, WatchTV

That's a bold decision. My guess is they had a one year agreement to carry NFL Network on Now and Uverse, as it is still on DirecTV and may be tied to the NFL Sunday Ticket expiration next year. Or, perhaps they are completely separate and they negotiated to carry only on DirecTV, but that seems unlikely and foolish.

Either way, that's a bold move by AT&T, only a couple days after Nick Jr. A few more of these moves and they'll have almost any demographic seeing the writing on the wall.

I thought there was one more year on the contract? All of 2019?

ST ends 2022. But the NFL can drop it for 2020. I suspect ATT and the NFL will come to an agreement that keeps ST but allows streaming to other devices.
