Hi, I missed (didn't record) a couple episodes of a regular TV show. I searched for those episodes and found them "On Demand". When I select them, it tells me to call Dish "To Subscribe", subscribe to what? Do I have to subscribe and pay them to watch any old programs? What is going on, I am a new subscriber, recently switched from Directv?

That's the message you usually get when the show you want is on a channel or VOD for a channel that isn't in your package. You have to sub to the channel to get the VOD from that channel.

OK, I figured out my problem, it sucks. I was trying to retrieve a local network program and I don't subscribe to locals since I use my OTA for locals.

I pickup with my OTA over 70 stations, so purchasing the OTA dual tuner for $30 and canceling the Locals subscription, saving $12 a month sounded like a no brainier. At the time I understood that I will be able to record or watch live only 2 Local stations at the same time, which I thought that I could live with. However, I didn't realized that your "Locals" don't include only the 4 major networks and if you miss recording or watching live ANY Local programs then you cannot watch it later from the On Demand. Now thinking about it, it make perfect sense, you didn't subscribed to your Locals from Dish so they will not let you watch it from the On Demand. I wonder how many other users realized that when they canceled their Local subscription, obviously it is a serious drawback.
