along with the UPN/Paramount feeds that were carried on Galaxy 4 and Telstar 5, which of the UPN Affiliates were carried on Ku-Band at the time?, aside from what's listed here? (1997)
S3R-TP13: WDCA 20 (UPN - Washington, D.C), alternating with WBDC 50 (WB)
S3R-TP13L: KTXA 21 (UPN-Dallas Ft. Worth), alternating with KDAF 33 (WB)
S3R-TP13U: WSBK 38 (UPN - Boston), also carried as one of the superstations on C-Band/Primestar, Dish Network and Canadian satellite systems (Bell TV, Express Vu & Star Choice) & alternating with WGBH 2 (PBS) & WLVI 56 (WB)
S3R-TP14: WBFS 33 (UPN Miami-Ft. Lauderdale), alternating with WLTV (Uni.) & WDZL 39 (WB) as part of a duopoly between WTVJ 6 (NBC).
S3R-TP15L: KCOP 13 (UPN - Los Angeles), alternating with KMEX 34 (Uni.) & KCAL 9 (Ind.)
S3R-TP15U: WWOR 9 (UPN - New York City), carried as one of the superstations (along with WSBK, WPIX, WGN & KTLA) on C-Band/Primestar, Dish Network & Canadian satellite systems (Bell TV, ExpressVu & Star Choice)
S3R-TP17L: KBHK 44 (UPN - San Francisco), alternating with KOFY 20-later KBWB (WB)
S3R-TP17U: WPTT 22 (UPN - Pittsburgh), became a WB affiliate renamed WCWB the following year.
S3R-TP18L: KJZZ 14 (UPN - Salt Lake City), alternating with KOOG 30-later KUWB (WB)
WUXP 30 (UPN - Nashville), as part of the "Nashville" package that was carried on Galaxy 4 Ku-Band and alternating with WNAB 58 (WB).
I wonder what other UPN affiliates they carried in '97? (especially those who have a satellite chart)

as far as I know the Galaxy 4 Ku mainly compromised of the CBS Newspath feeds which moved to a backup satellite (Telstar 5 Ku) after the Galaxy 4 shutdown in May 1998, WSBK Boston was also carried as a superstation on Anik E2 (A2), and Chris-Craft/United Television fed their news feeds on G-STAR4 (R4) (that included KCOP Los Angeles, KPTV Oregon, KMSP Minneapolis-St. Paul, KTVX Salt Lake City, KMOL San Antonio, WWOR New York City and WRBW Orlando). since Ku-Band was definitely the feeding ground for news feeds & backhauls in addition to sports backhauls.

+danristheman will you stop that please!
but If for anything as with the Paramount Stations Group feeding their news feeds I'm not sure which Ku transponder they used (I might contact the execs that worked at UPN), well aside from WSBK 38 (UPN-BOS) I'm not sure If they carried WWOR 9 (UPN-NY) as a superstation on Anik E2 (A2)?

I also forget to mention that KQCA 58 (UPN-SAC) was also carried as part of the "Kelly Broadcasting" feeds (along with KCRA 3 (NBC-SAC), and KCPQ 13 (FOX-SEA) which was bought by Emmis Communications the following year who later sold it to Tribune Broadcasting), but (sadly) it took the WB affiliation after UPN went to channel 31 and renamed it KMAX-TV.

I made a minor mistake, it was actually Meredith Corporation in which Bob Kelly (Kelly Broadcasting) sold KCPQ 13 (FOX - Seattle) to which was later bought by Tribune Broadcasting. Emmis Communications actually bought KTZZ 22 (WB - Seattle) and WXMI 17 (FOX - Grand Rapids). but those were non-UPN.

WNPA 19 (UPN - Pittsburgh) was carried on Orion 1, frequency 12125 Polar H but that would be in the following year (1998),
since Ch. 19 was a low-powered WB affiliate (WBPA-LP/WTWB-TV) at the time, before the affiliate switchover in January 1998 when The WB purchased Ch 22 (WPTT) the prior UPN affiliate (as part of a deal with the Sinclair-owned stations) and renamed it WCWB-TV, leaving Ch. 19 as a UPN affiliate in which the Paramount Stations Group (owned by Viacom) purchased the station.

WWOR 9 (UPN-NYC) was also carried on Echostar 3 (E3), despite it being a superstation as I can tell you that (most WB and UPN affiliates are more or less treated as superstations).

well other than the Chris-Craft/United Television news feeds (GSTAR4) and the Paramount Stations Group uplink newsfeeds that I'm looking for (on one of the threads on
rec.video.satellite.tvro), the West Palm Beach UPN affiliate (WTVX 34) was being uplinked on Telstar 4 (both C-Band and Ku-Band), though that occurred for 4 weeks around November '97 because of transmitter problems, this was a rare time when an affiliate on Ku-Band even though there were virtually almost no wildfeeds of entertainment shows on Ku (except for NBC which was ITC), since the majority of Ku was being used for newsfeeds, sports backhauls, satellite news gathering mobile newstruck uplinks, educational channels, news conferences, teleconferences, international channels (most were on Ka-Band), various other backhauls and wildfeeds.

well most backhauls of Paramount's shows (prefeeds) were on C-Band mainly G4-11/22 (Clueless, Frasier, Fired Up, Star Trek: Voyager, Sister, Sister, JAG, Jenny, Wings, George & Leo, Montel Williams (syndication), Entertainment Tonight (syndication), Hitz, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (syndication), LateLine, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (produced by Paramount's parent co. Viacom) and several TV movies) where viewers got a chance to see the shows before they made it to air on the networks (ABC, UPN, NBC, CBS and WB) and syndication, as for the Paramount feeds I'm not sure which transponder they moved to after the Galaxy 4 shutdown. Whiles the UPN Network feeds were on G4-10 and T5-16. but as for the Ku-Band stuff (other than the Chris/Craft-United Television and the PSG newsfeeds), I'll probably have the contact the execs that worked at UPN (which I hadn't gotten around to yet) or find any Orbit Magazine or Satellite TV Week editions (August 1997 and June 1998).
