Wrong.
This is a loaded question, and will vary on which satellite, how wide you want, how strong, contract length, etc.
Your looking at anywhere from $5K-$30K and up a month!

So curious what are you wanting to up-link?

I'm not looking to uplink anything, just asking the question because I was just wondering for a bit.

Great question Mr. Sheep, thought about that a number of times myself. Thanks Mike and kofi for your input.

Using a geostationary satellite as part of a cross band repeater system would be interesting, but complicated and costly. I guess Echolink already does this but via the Internet, not satellite. We hams also have a number of orbiting satellites too.

Guess I'm never satisfied. Forget it. :)
