Fake trees (towers/antennas) are in widespread use. Why wouldn't they be used when utility poles and light towers are not available?

Have dozens of faux pines in use in the local area. On my last trip to Mexico, marveled at the towers/antennas masquerading as palm trees and cactus. :)

My guess is that you're more likely to get skin cancer from the sun than cancer from these 5G transmitters. Regardless, I have no intention of paying the inflated prices to have 5G - just like there's no way I'd pay $1000 for a smartphone. But that's just me.

Fake trees? I want some of what you're smoking!

Upper Arlington and Hilliard have cell towers that have been made to look like Pine Trees. They did this because the community did not like the appearance of a cell tower in their neighborhood. I assume that is what he is referring to as Fake trees.

I need to get out of the Midwest more. Never seen a fake tree here in my life!

Lots of fake tree cell towers and other uses here, like police and fire repeaters.

Still no official 5G spec though, so anybody labeling an existing offering "5G" is using a marketing ploy to get people to believe it's here. This was something Charlie Ergen said himself at the Team Summit recently (see the thread in the Dish forum for more info).

And this: Sprint sues AT&T for lying to consumers with fake 5GE branding

Even more: Study confirms AT&T’s fake 5G E network is no faster than Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint 4G

Didn't the 3GPP approve the 5G NR standard last June?

First standalone 5G network standard approved | TechRadar
Release 15

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G for example operates on n260 and n261, which are 5G NR bands as defined by 3GPP. Verizon's 5G in parts of CHI and MSP broadcasts on those bands.

If I am missing something, please let me know, but my impression is that this is real 5G, as defined by a recognized governing body. The 5G that Verizon launched last Fall in parts of Houston, Indy, LA and Sacramento is their own made up standard and not 5G NR.

When I was in south Florida tree towers were common. But the best was what church did not want a new tall cross atop their building. Lots of cross towers also.

Fake trees are widely used in neighborhoods as tall cell towers.

Some are quite life-like CN, while others stick out like a sore thumb -
