Is Dish heading towards dropping locals?

I have the Welcome pack, which comes with locals with NO option to delete them, Yet, I still pay $40 per month for just the Welcome pack and DVR. But, I pay 83.99 per month for Cox internet only. WOW! streaming sure is cheap?

Man I sure do miss those days, I loved having the East/West feeds!

But you kind of made my point, Portland stations invested in repeaters so their entire DMA could receive their signal! Other DMAs are getting paid by satellite and cable providers because they refuse to cover their entire area in signal coverage!

The only thing is, out here we are missing several PDX stations via translators. We do have 6 nets, and some sub channels, and CW & ION are missing. I am hoping a lot of this becomes available via streaming in the future.

But they we SD only. I prefer HD Locals

Sure, I would rather have things in HD if available, but having the station at all is great, like with the Super Stations. I would rather have them in HD, but at least I have them. The old E/W locals would never have been in HD anyway, as there was no HD in those days.

Like I said, I live about 45 Miles away from my Local Channels. I also live in town. I think it is an option for those who want an OTA, who can get strong reception through that OTA. If there is a way, that I could have both, just to compare which is stronger in terms of reception, then I would think about it, but I would have to stick with just getting them from Dish. And I know, what the opinion from my wife would be, Why fix something if it is not broken. She has way to many shows from CBS, Fox, and NBC that she enjoys watching and relying on an OTA would be a gamble with her.
What do you mean by get both?? Locals via OTA and through Dish?

Except it will take a long time and a lot of donations for Locast to cover all DMA's and sub-channels.

I think in the not too distant future, most sub channels will be available for streaming anyway. Comet has their own app, Charge! and TBD are on the Sinclair app. Buzzr in available in several places. Both available for free on the Roku/Firestick. Plus other services on the internet stream other OTA subs. Those are not on Roku or the Firestick, but they can be cast from a computer to a Chromecast. There are some licensing issues that will have been solved I am sure.

A Comparison which is stronger, Dish vs. OTA
Yeah, I have both - until I switch my locals timers over to the OTA channels, then I'll drop my locals from Dish. I need to get a good antenna that isn't Unidirectional though, so I can pick up channels from other directions like Champaign/Decatur to the SE and Quad Cities to the NW

When it rains, my OTA locals usually go out before my Dish locals. I get my locals with TiVo and Dish. I think that maybe Dish gets the locals via a line and not OTA in my area, since when it rains, I lose parts of programs thru the antenna, but the same program on Dish is clear.
