The OFFICIAL DISH / HBO Thread

HEY DISH-->Just make sure that when you bring HBO back that LQQK pays for it and you don't make me share the cost with him. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Have you tried contacting AT&T directly? They are on Twitter and Facebook if you are unable to phone.

Why?

I/We prefer watching what's currently airing or setting the DVR...It's more convenient to have an All-N-1 Package than having to have multiple products & remotes for our multiple TVs to get our Fix!

HEY DISH-->I'm willing to pay for HBO/Cinemax! I don't like higher fees...BUT...I'm sure I'm not alone if ya offered it.

The multi-remote problem is easy to solve, and many of us have done so, long ago.

Let me guess… Logitech. I’ve set up many custom remotes in my time and still the number one problem is teaching the less tech Savvy (mothers, fathers, wives, friends etc) even though they seem simple the callbacks can drive you crazy… But I understand where you’re coming from.

With HBO now there is no need to set timers...it's all there, when you want it. Are any of your TVs Samsungs? They can get the app, and some others as well. Look it up.

HBO being gone really opened my eyes to how little I was watching it. Got the HBO Amazon Prime channel to watch GoT. I check the live feeds all the time and rarely see something I want to watch.

Tonight I'll watch the Deadwood movie and then after Chernobyl concludes on Tuesday I think I'm done until Westworld comes back.

Why was this posted in a new thread? I thought we all agreed to stay on the original thread. As others have stated, if its HBO and Cinemax that you want and you are on Dish, you need to go the streaming route for HBO and Amazon Prime route for Cinemax.

If you have an Apple TV, you can subscribe to both HBO and Cinemax (as well as Showtime, Starz and Epix) as "Apple TV Channels" inside of the new TV app. You don't have to subscribe to another service first in order to add HBO or Cinemax. They all cost their standard prices (HBO for $15 and Cinemax for $10). Both include the live east and west feeds of their main channel only, along with the entire on-demand library. I've checked out both HBO and Showtime content on-demand via Apple TV Channels and, IMO, it's the absolute best possible HD picture quality versus any other way to watch (even better than Amazon Prime Video Channels, which had been the reigning PQ champ). It looks rich and detailed without compression artifacts. The Apple TV 4K does a great job of upscaling too, to "fake 4K".

Apple is streaming season 1 of Big Little Lies in the TV app for free right now. Check out how good it looks, even in dark, shadowy areas or when the ocean water splashes.

My 2 year old Samsung doesn’t show a “hbo-now” just the go app. Resorted to my firestick.

Subscribing to HBO in any form is just supporting ATT. Boycott HBO completely and lets show ATT that the can go to H**L. They are driving Directv into the ground. Go Netflix. You will only miss your favorite shows for a short time until you have forgot that they existed. Look at all the canceled shows that we liked.

I liked HBO on the Hopper because I could record HD versions of the movies to watch later. I still have some of them. Since recording features aren't native to most internet services, the movie or show will be their as if it were recorded but it's not permanent and will disappear or expire.

I usually found 2 new movies a month on HBO I wanted to record. This isn't really worth it. I might as well rent.

However I liked the option of watching them whenever. But I suspect movie stations aren't thrilled about offline storage.
