12ftr. Aquired!!

Today, I made huge progress with my newly acquired dish...It was definitely a learning experience with figuring out how the panels go together and then how they mount to the mounting ring, and also doing this by myself with a good breeze of 6-10mph here today! the position I have the dish in now will stay that way until I get my new LNB, this way it will be easier for me to install the quad arms and the LNB, super excited with the progress today and can't wait to finish it up and start scanning the sky! 4-11-19 003.jpg 4-11-19 004.jpg

alright folks...I have the dish finally assembled and the new LNBF mounted..question is when entering my Lat. (32.464) and Long.(-80.9878) into my receiver what is the trick to entering the negative Longitude? I am using a Amiko Mini HD SE receiver. Thanks for any imput on this.

Longitude and Latitude entry are not used for DiSEqC 1.2 positioning. USALS is only used for HH Ku-band motors.

To enter a West longitude (vs an East) press the right arrow prior to the numerical entry, some STBs use a - (negative) symbol for West longitudes.

What are you trying to to use to move this 12 foot dish with?

Titanium Satellite - Store

These are no longer being produced due to the Chinese tariffs , get one while you can!

I have been given a US Electronics ORB7500 videocipher to move the dish, which I understand is analog, I have not gotten it hooked up to the actuator yet, just making sure I have the correct input info for the receiver when I go to look for my first sat. also not 100% sure which satellite would be best to aim towards for my most southern bird.

IF that receiver still has the actual Videocipher module in the back, remove the cover screw for the module slot, remove the cover, then pull out the videocipher module and throw it in the trash. It's junk now, and will only suck up power.

I would go with 87W, that is the closest one to you that has 24hr active transponders. I use to use 83W but 87W now. I am not too far from your QTH.

also with the data that dishpointer.com gives me about 87w it tells me my dish elevation needs to be 51.7 degrees, is this true? and setting he dish to this should get me on that bird and close to being on the rest of the arc correct? thx.

Do you have the old analog receiver moving the dish? If soo run it until until the polar mount is pointed due south. Look at the upright on the mount and make sure it is parallel with the pole. Move the dish about forty counts to the east and manually adjust for a strong signal on 87 west That will get you in the field.

I don't have the analog receiver hooked up yet...still need to get some actuator wire for it....the upright you are referring to..that is the part I have my angle count set on in the above picture?

Your elevation will be the same as your latitude.Decinatoin might have to modified a bit from were the dish came from, but only a half a degree maybe.
ok...I will reset my elevation back to where I had it before...not too sure on how to set the declination part yet...but will see if I can figure it out lol Thx for the input!

ok guys....have the dish driven to the highest point...have tried to get 87w but I have a good feeling that the dish is aimed a bit high and I am above the arc..no signal yet...any good advice? (Nick (Computech) I will be contacting you either tomorrow eve. or Thursday eve. for additional guidance)sat 7-9 001.jpg
