Copyright issues, we exchange programming with the Canadians, British, Australians, all English speaking nations. You’ll never find an ‘International’ Canadian/British/Australian programming service. No such thing. Try an address broker for Shaw Direct (Canadian DBS) if you REALLY want Canadian TV.

Online Streaming is also an option. The thing is with English speaking channels, most if not all of them have some sort of programming of TV shows that are also carried on US networks,.the Canadian channels buy the exclusive rights to those TV series in Canada, same as Australian and UK TV etc . And of course US networks have the USA rights. So you'll never see those networks on a US TV Provider.

There are some International channels that stream free in English,. France 24, DWTV (Germany), Russia Today, NHK Japan, to name a few. Most are news channels. Dish used to have a pack of International news channels for like $5 a month. On the Roku, there are a couple channels that do stream CBC and a few Canadian channels, but not live. They are time shifted or the programs are on Demand. BBC News is another one. There is one live all news channel that is free streaming called Sky News, out of the UK, a competitor to the BBC. Not as good, but free to stream. But streaming rules are different than satellite or cable rules, licensing, etc.Shaw satellite is a way to go, but you need either a Canadian addy/phone number or a broker. I had Shaw for some time some years back. First from a broker I paid. Later a friend had Shaw, so I just bought an extra satellite receiver from him, had him set it up and ship it to me. The receiver was in his name, so no rules broken, as a Canadian can use their account in the states. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple years back and most of the stations I lost. There are a few in the clear, but not many and no CBC stations. I do not think there are any legal streams for Australia/New Zealand either. I saw an all news channel out of South Africa years ago,. and it was interesting, but I don't believe it is available any longer. There are probably pirate streams, but not my thing. I have read, some get in trouble if you download them. Good luck.

Funny, because BBC America really did have content that was exclusively British. Then they found they can make more money airing Star Trek franchise and other USA content. It seems Graham Norton is the only truly, fully British show offered on BBC America (and turned around in just a DAY, I believe), and Top Gear had its implosion and subsequent implosion, so it too MIA.

You have a great point, but I fear the only place you can find of what you're looking for is with OTT like Hulu or Netflix. They do have some Aussie and Canadian content or English language international content, of course, it is entertainment, not news and public affairs.

What is somewhat sad is that even the English language versions of foreign channels are really more about promoting or highlighting that country's culture--hardly any entertainment programming--and the news is very USA centric or is caught up in trying to provide that country's view in international affairs rather than a great newscast or show. The foreign language versions can have really great straightforward newscasts and news shows like TV5's news and information watching, while France24--an English language service--is just a mess.

Some Public TV stations (NOT offered as part of the PBS National Service offerings) are airing more and more programming--entertainment--from Australia and Canada, but those are offered from 3rd parties, so it depends upon your local Public TV station willing to pay and air that content. Otherwise, OTT is your best bet.

I'm not aware of them on many MSO's either. Maybe he means MSO's in the far north, near the boarder with Canada.

New york state...michighan...vermont..north dakota..maine...anything on the border
