hey folks, I'm a long time Dish customer and my recent monthly bill just shot way up...i'm not a big TV watcher so I only have AT120+ and I have (1) hopper and (1) joey. I think i was previously getting a monthly discount deal because of a 2 year commitment but that must have went away and now it looks like AT120+ is running 72.99/month, hopper and locals are 12/month each...

I'm just wondering what deals/promotions are available to long time existing customers in excellent standing? at this cost, I don't even want to keep the service any longer...

Look into the Flex Pack. There are several options available. If possible use an outdoor antenna with the OTA module. You can record two ota channels at one time. That is a savings of $12.00 a month.
Flex Pack discounts available.
National action pack reg. $12 discounted price $6.00.
Heartland $6 Discounted price $3.00.
Showtime $10 discounted price $5.00.

Check with a DIRT member here. I had the same issue and reached out to them. While they didn't get me the exact same price I did get a good discount and I think my net increase was about $8/mo. That price is also locked in for another 2-year agreement.

I live in an area that doesn't get much OTA. I was hoping not to change packages but was hoping more to get a better promo/discount on the current package, something more in line with what I was paying previously.

Yep, ask for the current customer discount offer for another two year price reduction and guarantee. Keep in mind you won't pay an increase in January when likely prices increase for the core package, so at that point you will be saving even more, then the next January when it goes up again you will saving more on top of that. That is why it jumps so much after the deal is over.

People may not be aware for years those of us who with DISH from the begining or other long time customers complained new subscribers got the deals, switched back and forth to keep getting deals, meanwhile the loyal customer was getting a few perks but not really substantial discounts. When DISH starting offering current customer deals very similar to new customer deals that was very welcomed.Streaming aside, It would be hard for me to switch now if saving money was the objective and get what the Top 200, their movie pack etc has, plus the Grandfathered $7 DVR fee.

When I got the 2 year price guarantee (The preferred customer offer) last summer, the CSR that set it up for me said to call back in two years to get the offer again. Here's the number I called last summer: 866-974-0769. Worth a try.
I tried calling that number and the recording says, "The number you called is no longer in use, please call 1-800-333-DISH."

ok, guess I'll just give them a call and see what options they offer...was hoping someone would know the current existing customer offerings so when I called I would know if they were telling me correctly or not.

i have a hopper w/ sling that I've had for several years now, got it at the same time that I got the joey, both were provided and installed for free. wondering if there are any other new equipment deals I should be aware of or ask to get upgraded to for free or low cost.

so....called dish and they offered to do another 2 year lock to help get my pricing back to within $5/month of what it used to be before my price lock expired...they also offered to give me a one time credit to offsite the big different in price that happened this month (which I thought was very nice of them). they also offered to upgrade my equipment from the hopper w/ sling (which they said has 3 tuners) to the hopper 3 (which they said has 16 tuners and a voice controlled remote). the only downside I can think of is that I would lose all of my DVR recordings.

seems like a no brainer if I'm going to keep the same package and keep satellite tv service for the next couple years. guess I need to decide if I want to lose my recordings and get new hardware of just keep what I have. Thoughts on that folks?

Upgrade to the Hopper 3. Add an external hard drive to your HWS and transfer your recordings to it. Then connect it to the Hopper 3 and you will have access to them. No need to lose anything.

ok, how much of a process is that going to be and what's the transfer rate/speed? is this process fairly straightforward and not cumbersome? any specific type of drive, enclosure, connection I should be getting?

You can also transfer the recordings directly from one Hopper to another using an ethernet wire. That process is pretty straightforward. Just have the tech who does your upgrade start the transfer. Moving everything including PTAT could take a day or two but is totally in the background.

Wouldn't the tech take the old Hopper with him when he left.
You can transfer a bunch of recordings all with one command. You do not need to moniter the transfers.

They (all providers) just lie and say that to get you off the phone because nobody wants to hear their price will eventually go up.

Granted they always got something, but it’s never guaranteed they will give you a promotion again

Mine went up the 1st week of may because my last contract expired. I called Dish, asked for loyalty and asked what I needed to do to get it back down, offered to sign a new 2 yr, the woman said that'll do it, I did the IVR recording and she gave me a $40.00 credit for June

that sounds a lot how my conversation went and I plan to call them back and move forward...what do you mean by "I did the IVR recording"
