Locast has added South Dakota to its roster

Interesting choice of location since they have so few markets launched. Rural does make sense though, as OTA from two markets leaves parts of the state unreached. It sounds like they got some backing funding from some company(ies) locally. Perhaps an internet company threw them a low deal on bandwidth since their employees can't get TV at home.

As the articles says, it was a combination of area corporate and private donations that made it all possible. If other areas get on board the same way, then we may see more additions fairly soon.

Signed up and tried it out last night. Seems to work very well. Picture quality was pretty good and there was no lip sync or buffering issues. I'm pretty impressed. I wish that it had pause and rewind functionality, but it's pretty hard to complain about free! This will make it much easier for us to consider cutting the cord once I get setup with some better internet.
