DNS service with waiver?

If you are currently receiving locals, the local stations will not allow a wavier. DirecTV will also not allow it. Sorry but almost no one gets DNS any more.
With the current DirecTV retransmission disputes, I wish I hadn't given up my DNS waivers when DirecTV offered my locals.
That might work. It did for me several years ago, but the going word on the RV forums is that since ATT took over they don't seem to be responding to most of the applications anymore. The law authorizing DNS service expires at the end of this year too unless Congress renews it, so there are a lot of things up in the air on that front.
The ironic thing is we lost our local CBS/CW affiliates to the Nexstar dispute, and then lost WCBS to the CBS dispute. They've temporarily replaced it on DNS with WUSA out of Washington, DC. That is the great thing about having DNS. When you lose a station to a dispute at least it gets replaced.
If you have a waiver, does it remain in effect forever or do you have to renew it?
Earlier this year they notified DNS customers and we had to validate that we still need it. Which we did and we are good to go. We are 10 years fulltiming in an RV and that is the first time we had to validate our access.
The waiver remains in effect unless you cancel it and then it can't be reinstated. But, this may have changed now that ATT took over.
