METV CH 247 Missing?

No. But they did "remove" in on channel 247 for some markets that have a local METV affiliate. Here in Chicago they had 247 available the first couple days after turning it on, but then channel 247 was hidden from us since we have METV on channel 23. I don't know how they chose who gets 247 and who doesn't, but here in Chicago we don't have it.

OTA doesn't count, but if a dedicated "local" that Dish carries, then 247 is not available in that market. Portland OR has METV as a diginet, so Dish doesn't carry METV in the Portland market, but to the North, Seattle has METV as the main channel on a local, so the subs in that market does not get METV on 247. METV is only in SD on 247, yet METV 2.2 Portland runs in 720p, so the pq is much better.

One extra note, since Dish has had issues with HBO/Cinemax, now the RSNs. One thing they could continue to carry are more diginets. They are cheap to add and most are in SD, so little bandwidth, but a lot us older crowd really enjoy channels like METV, Get TV, Buzzr. One I would love to see is Antenna TV, not available OTA here. Others to consider are Retro TV, Heroes & Icons, Decades, Start TV, THIS, Cozi, Movies, and Escape.

I have ME TV available via OTA but they annoyingly preempt programming with a lot of local nonsense. I was really happy when Dish elected to carry it, and I think they do a pretty good job rendering the SD picture.

Yeah, I am lucky to get MeTV out of two markets OTA. The Detroit affiliate sometimes pulls that pre-emption crap, so I will flip over to the Toledo one.

Don't mess with my M*A*S*H re-runs!!!!!

We get Me-TV Here Local into local high definition ( and over the air HD as well as a second OTA standard definition low quality sub Channel). I've noticed that Me-TV is now airing much better quality source for some their programs. While the source is not in HD, the high SD quality of the source on the HD LiL is excellent! Charlie's Angels being one of the programs using very high-quality SD source to broadcast looking excellent on HD LiL, almost like true hi-def.

Here we also get METV OTA in 720p and it pretty sharp for the old shows they run.

I never got the 247 feed that I know of, and we only get it OTA via sub channels on Boston's WCVB and Manchester, NH's WMUR. I'll need to confirm about 247. However, I do get the national Laff feed, despite getting it OTA on a sub channel of Boston's WFXT.

We got it on Dish for a short while, then it went away. It was at that time Dish had to drop the national feed, if Dish had METV as a local. It is on in a few markets. I do wish Dish carried sub channels, but I guess there are too many. But at least they are giving us some of the diginets.

We get Metv Ota in 720p as well in southeast Texas. Picture looks great even on old episodes of tv shows in the 60s and 70s. Wonder Woman looks as good as any hd show out there in full 16x9 screen. Even Svengoli is showing old movies in full hd print now and the shows look brand new.

Then your local is cross converting to 720p.
Not my point, Sam. MY point was that it would be nice for Dish to convert channel 247 to HD. Without HBO/Cinemax, they should have the bandwidth to do this. It would be nice for Dish to render ME TV in 1080i but even 720P would be a nice improvement.

LOL! There's a list that's been floating around here for a long time of at least 25 basic/premium cable channels that Dish carries that are still in SD. I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but I'm pretty sure MeTV isn't even on the Dish HD radar

It is if they pay to be carried
