No. It's the TRUE app (with proper logo) and it works beautifully. Better than the one Dish or XBox One S has. You probably need to search "all apps". It's there.

I just saw the video posted by Nominal and they mention that first generation FireStick does not have it yet, but the say all will have it at some time along with YouTube TV.

I really like the Fire Stick but I'm wondering how long it will be before Amazon decides to do their own streaming network like VUE or Direct. I have been a hard core Dish user forever it seems like but how could they or Direct compete against Amazon?
 
My ROKU works fine. Only thing I don’t like is the remote.

I had to open it up and disable the sling, Netflix and other short cut buttons.

I was accidentally pushing those buttons and there was no way to stop the app from loading.

Besides I’ll never ever have sling Tv
 
Those buttons, I believe, are deliberately placed to where you will inadvertently hit them now and again. Sort of free advertising (although I’m sure those companies paid Roku).

Another reason I like to use Harmony remotes.

Amazon's solution to no longer having the real YouTube app was for Amazon to create its own Fire TV app that when launched takes you to YouTube.com website via Amazon's Silk browser or the Firefox browser. The display and experience of the work around youtube.com app is very, very similar to the true YouTube app. In fact, I find it functions just as well as the true YouTube app did. this confusion also explains why there is still no YouTube app on Echo Show products because Amazon and Google have not kissed and made up, yet.

Please be aware that there are other third-party apps that also connect to youtube.com with various names like kids for YouTube as opposed to the official YouTube for kids, or videos for YouTube etc with the same bright red color of the official YouTube app., but none of those are the official YouTube app. instead they are apps from third-party developers Perhaps you saw or downloaded one of those. As far as I know Amazon still does not offer the true official YouTube app from Google's YouTube.

Unless I missed something I can't recall nor find any announcement that Amazon and Google have made up, so Amazon cannot offer the true YouTube app. Am I wrong or was this just confusion of similar looking apps that are not officially from YouTube?

Yes, you missed it. There is a real, bonafide YouTube app on the Firestick. It has not, however, made its way to all Amazon devices yet, but it is coming soon.

I've thought of disabling those buttons myself either by cutting traces or perhaps removing the conductive surface from the buttons. All this is speculation because I haven't yet opened the remote. Would you share what you did?

One advantage to the Firestick I've found is resuming a show on the HBO Now app on Firestick actually resumes the show at the same point where you stopped watching previously. On the Roku, it jumps back several minutes as best as I can determine when you resume.

Hey, thanks. It was several DAYS AFTER your post that the real Google YouTube app showed up on my FireTV. I had searched for it IMMEDIATELY after you spread the word, and days after, but NO real Google YouTube until day before yesterday, and I thought of YOU. How could I have doubted you. Thanks again. BTW, is the official YouTube app showing up on any Echo Show's. I would think it would if Amazon and Google finally made up, but considering it took days for the app to be available on my FireTV, it may take some time to push the app out to Show's

Thanks. It took DAYS for it to be available on my FireTV. I had searched for the App immediately after the word from here and searched every day after and I got NOTHING! I finally got the official YouTube app just day before yesterday. Yes, it works better than ever. Although, I thought the PQ was BETTER via the workaround YouTube.com app using my choice of Firefox. That was a let down, and the official app still look to have inferior PQ, as in lower frame rate, I think.

Yeah, I am not sure what the holdup is on the Echo Show. Hopefully soon though!
 
Doesn’t the Show use an outdated forked version of Android?

And no real Internet browser, so you’re basically restricted to certain apps? No DA? Can’t get recipes from my favorite sites unless they have a Show app?

The apps must be specifically made to work with the Show?

Does the Joule (sous vide) app work on the Show, including recipes and videos, as well as controlling the device?

Reading about it at Amazon I get the opinion they think you already know what the Show can do.

The 5 versus the “real” Show? Larger screen, better audio and some home controls, and that’s it?

Does the Show keep doing the “try this” stuff that the 5 does?

That's why I got as it is the BEST bedside clock radio I have ever had. I go to sleep listening to a podcast.

As far as a browser, the Show says it had Silk & Firefox. I haven't used them so I don't know if they are limited browsers or what. Haven't used a 5 either, but it looks like a bargain.
