Just curious, what is the file name extension on the files? I.e. .jpg, m4v?

I would assume they are in a non-standard format and probably have additional security as well.
I don't know the file extension, but the files are heavily encrypted and breaking that encryption is a felony, I believe, or maybe just illegal at some other level. DMCA and all that.

I figured they were. My opinion is if one really likes a movie or such, get it on DVD or Blu-Ray off from eBay.

Or do Hauppauge and take youse chances.

Sent from my iPhone using SatelliteGuys App. For now.

Just transferred two Epix movies last night from my H3 to a laptop with my Hauppauge PVR as TS streams. Now I can cut the leading and trailing crap off with my VideoReDoTVS V5 and archive it for future watching on my time.

What model Hauppauge did you use, I see a bunch listed?
Did you use HDMI or Component.
If you use HDMI any HDCP problems?
If so any workarounds?

Thanx in advance for letting us pick your brain.

I have the HD PVR 49001 LF Rev F2 usually referred to as the PVR 1212.

It has component video and RCA plugs for stereo audio.plus Toslink optical audio each with full pass through.

The H3 outputs component video for every source I have used, even HBO and Stars.

I haven't tried VOD.

I can save the video stream as MP4, TS (transport stream) and several other formats.

You Rewind the video back just before your starting point, put the PVR 1212 into capture mode, name the file, hit the record button and press play on your H3 remote.

You can pre-select the approximate length of the movie or program so you don't have to baby set it for stop time.

I use VideoReDo TVSuite V5 to edit the videos and it can natively edit TiVo downloads also.
