The new software update was supposed to fix on demand download issue. But since that update, my hopper will not download when you select "watch later" But, when you go to the rental box on the DVR screen, it shows that the show is downloaded. Select it and it goes into buffering which means it is not downloaded. Unfortunately, I live in low speed internet area so buffering is part of the game. I click on dish vip support this am and that doesn't work. Ideas anybody?

I know these issues can be frustrating. Can you tell me at what speed you're Hopper is downloading at? You can check this by pressing the Home Button (50.0, 52.0, 54.x) three times or Menu (40.0) two times. This will bring you to the DISH Diagnostics, and there go to Status. From that screen, let's go to Send Status and choose Test Connections.

Do other internet-required apps go through issues besides buffering?

How long should the "System Status" take? Mine has been running for over 30 minutes and seems stuck at 60%.

I just ran it on one of my H3's and it completed within a couple of minutes. Mine use to hang because I have a wing dish for 129 and the box didn't like this. But I really like the "Test Connections"! I DL at 372.633Mbps. Although I have seen numbers in the DL itself in the program window at a severely higher rate. I have Gigabit Fiber. Love the new "Test Signal" too. Is there a current Signal Strength table for the H3?

Thanks. I will do this tonight.

That can sometime occurs if there is something currently recording. Most commonly happens when attempting a check during Prime Time Anytime hours. -KJ

Its a known issue. It won't complete.
Huh??? I run Send Status successfully on every Hopper I encounter. If it won't complete, back out, power off, then back on and try again or do a hard reboot, wait for the new program guide to d/l and try again.

Most, not all, internet issues are based on incompatible routers, btw. Comcast, Mediacom, Spectrum gateways are the biggest offenders, but aren't the only ones. I would try to get a HIC installed, if possible

Not just routers.
A few years ago I had just swapped from ATT to Entouch for internet. Got 50Mb down internet to ISP's modem to my Asus router to everything else. Everything was working fine for a few weeks when I decided to get my own modem and stop paying rental on theirs.

Weirdest I'd ever seen was when I swapped out the ISP's Motorola surfboard modem with an Arris one I had bought. It worked fine tested and got good ping, download, and upload speeds, I used it for a week then tried watching Dish on demand and it kept dying during the download. Couldn't be the modem I thought so I spent a good while looking at everything else then finally swapped the Motorola back in and bingo-all well again. Still could not believe it, so I swapped the Arris back and it was bad again.
Called Arris tech support and was told if it works with your computer it is good, but you could send it back for repair if you want......so I'd probably just get same not working with Dish modem back from them.
I returned the Arris modem for a refund and bought a very cheap Cisco-Linksys refurb for $50? Everything worked fine so I gave the ISP back their modem. Then I thought if there's a modem problem they'll be charging me for the call, labor and all so I searched around and found another Cisco for $40? to have for a spare. Years later my daughter got Comcast so I gave her my cheap Cisco modem to to use, and searched around and found a Zoom modem. Bought the Zoom and it also works great on Dish demand too.

I never did figure out why the Arris would not work. Dish on demand kept dying during download whether attached to my router or to the modem itself, I guess it was just FM.

Just repeating what a Dish Tech told me when he was here for a different issue. Never tried the off/on fix as it wasn't a big deal at the time.

When I had AT&T for internet, I had to find some odd settings in my router and change them. Before making the changes, all downloads that took over ten minutes would fail. I wish I could remember the settings. It has something to do with some sort or leash expiring before it was automatically renewed.

In March I moved from Comcast (still not sure what speed I was suppose to get) to Centurylink Gigabit Fiber (940/940Mbps). On Comcast I used the Arris SurfBoard 6190, Netgear R6300, R6700v3, RAX40 and with CL the Netgear RAX40 and 6700v3 and Actiontec C3000A and have had no DL issues with H2's or H3's. Just tested again on Main H3 using CL Gb on the Actiontec and got 417Mbps.

Every time I have had a DL issue is was the dish box and it would lock up hard and would need to be power cycled.

Interested in selling that sb6190?

Yeah, they complete when they are in the mood. For the first several months I got the H3, it would not complete, but I have been lucky that the last several months, it does complete. Kind of like the VOD: go away and have a cup of coffee, and then come back and try it again. AND if there is one thing that need a MAJOR overhaul it is the clunky VOD, and now I am using and even DEPENDING upon it more than ever, but it is so "jacked up" and CUMBERSOME, even at the H3 itself. I really do like the VOD--when it works well.

Who is YOUR internet provider?? I have no issues with VOD, ever. And I only see the connection check hang with incompatible routers/gateways

I seriously do this every single day multiple times, and never have a problem. You must be selecting check status, not send status. You're just trying to check the hopper download speed on your network, correct?
Send status seems to work but not check status. I was hoping check status might find other issues like the disappearance of my EHD.
