Working in broadcasting for several years, back in my younger days, I have always been a news junkie. Having CBSN is fantastic, as I had a place in So Cal and used to watch CBS 2 and KCAL 9. The CBSN app has both CBS LA and CBS NY. Really cool in HD. Cord cutting rocks. So many choices we never could view on satellite or cable.

CBSN fills the gap left by CNN Headline News when they stopped running through all the headlines every 30 minutes 24/7. Though, CBSN doesn't run around the clock like that unless there's breaking news.

I didn't realize the app added CBSN Los Angeles and New York feeds. I've been mainly using CBS All Access lately rather than the CBSN app itself.

I use the ABC News app sometimes too, though the interface takes some getting used to.

I use my Roku for the following streaming news and weather services:

France 24
Al Jazeera English
CBSN
Bloomberg
NHK World
Newsy
Sky News
NewsNet
WeatherNation

Way better than cable or satellite offers...hands down and FREE.

I watch CBSN quite a but, as well as the New York and Los Angeles feeds, and thanks to their numerous resources (via the affiliate stations), they're on top of national breaking news. I know ABC and NBC had launched similar services (NBC more recently), but I think they both lag behind CBS, especially utilizing their local O&Os.

According to Cord Cutter today, CBSN plans for cities in the future.

On the Roku, there also are a few apps that have BBC World and Euro News too.

They are also expanding to other major cities: CBS Launches Major-Market News Service | TVWeek

Every O&O market but Detroit, and I know they haven't produced full-length newscasts in a long time, and the last time WWJ/WKBD aired news, it was produced by cross-town WXYZ. It's a wonder if CBS wants to re-attempt launching local news again in Detroit...either that, or they should give it up there and sell-off the duopoly.

It's been a good while since the last post on this thread, but last month, CBSN added an over-the-air simulcast of its Dallas-Fort Worth channel, over KTXA 21.2. It replaces MeTV, which moved to KAZD Channel 55, a station recently acquired by Me's parent company, Weigel Broadcasting.

On YouTube there's a exotic news channel from Australia ABC 24/7 realtime broadcast.

Fun watch midnight news from Aussie in Albuquerque's time zone while having your 8 am Mountain time breakfast! :biggrin2

CBSN Sacramento launched today...
