Why would anyone arrive at that conclusion ? It’s subscriber base is growing month after month.
There is the thread here (that you participated in) about Hulu self-destructing due to dropping app support for "older" devices and a speculated raiding of customers by the impending Disney OTT service. There weren't many dissenters in that thread.

"Fastest growing" can be misleading. The service that goes from one to two subscribers grows at a 100% rate.

Not to mention, regarding its tentpole original series, Hulu has already announced a new original series based on the as-yet unpublished sequel to The Handmaid's Tale. Magaret Atwood's The Testaments comes out next week, and Margaret Atwood will be on the cover of Time magazine.
Can one series float an entire service?

This reminds me of the discussions back when AMC was making big waves with The Walking Dead and many insisted that this was a mandate for having AMC as part of everyone's TV package. AMC currently doesn't have any programming among the top 150 cable shows (and they didn't the week of the season 9 finale either).

Yes , I participated in that thread, and if you will reread it I stated that it wasn’t surprising that some older devices and smart tv platforms reach end of life app support sooner than with more popular platforms. This is hardly a Hulu only issue, if you want to call it a issue.

As to raiding customers with the Disney platform, i don’t see it. The services are more complimentary than competitive, as shown by the bundle discount of the two services. It’s even been stated (or speculated) that Disney will use Hulu for the more mature content that wouldn’t pass Disney internal filters.

And yes fastest growing can be misleading, but we are not talking about going from one to two customers, and calling it that, there is a link in this very thread just a couple of posts up that show the growth.

And now-Hulu added 3.8 million domestic subscribers in 2019 compared with Netflix’s 1.74 million domestic net additions it reported in its first quarter earnings results.

Hulu gained twice as many US subscribers as Netflix at the start of 2019

Hulu said its total customer base is now made up of 26.8 million monthly paid subscribers, with 1.3 million promotional accounts, reaching a total of more than 28 million.

Hulu reaches 28 million subscribers and announces new Marvel shows and ad formats

As I posted earlier, and theBruce just provided another source for . . .

Hulu adds 3.8 million subscribers in the US
In the first quarter of 2019, streaming platform Hulu added 3.8 million subscribers in the US, more than twice as many as Netflix’s (NFLX) 1.74 million. Hulu’s subscriber base has now increased to 28 million, up from ~25 million in January 2019. Its number of subscribers rose 48.0% from 17 million subscribers in 2017 to 25 million in 2018.

In case you missed it, here it is again: Its number of subscribers rose 48.0% from 17 million subscribers in 2017 to 25 million in 2018. That much growth in one year is remarkable for any business or service.

Every streaming platform is trying to capture lightning in a bottle with the next big series everyone will be talking about. Sure, in a few years, once Handmaid's Tale and any sequels have run their course (or Hulu has run them into the ground like AMC has done with TWD), they'll be scrambling for the next big series, if they don't already have it. But as it stands, today, Hulu has plenty of content that's driving tons of new subscribers. And the $5.99 price point for the ad-supported service is attractive to many cord cutters. The only thing more outrageous and unfounded than saying Hulu is "not long for the world" in the OTT space is saying Netflix isn't.

We just finished Veronica Mars season 4 on Hulu. We've also watched Catch-22, Castle Rock, and The First. In general, my impression is Hulu originals are somewhat better than Netflix. We'll be sticking around as subscribers in the long term.

Well, it looks like we can officially add Philo to the "not long for the world" list. They grew 30% in the past 8 weeks . . . and it's safe to assume that doesn't mean they only went from 7 to 9 subscribers. ;)

Philo COO: Streaming Service Coming Off Best Month in Company’s History

Keyserling indicated that Philo isn’t seeing the same dynamic as services like AT&T TV NOW (formerly DIRECTV NOW), which has lost over a half a million subscribers over the last few quarters. “There’s been a lot documented recently about how the MVPDs are taking a pause or even reducing their size. We’re just not seeing that dynamic at all.”

I have noticed that a certain person has not been back after being proved so wrong on a few subjects in this thread.

You're holding up a relatively small class of programming (Original Cable TV Shows) to the much larger class of TV shows. It is no wonder your results are grossly skewed.

Choosing to report numbers as people start subscribing for the Fall season and back-to-school is a tried and true tactic for showing great numbers. Even the incumbent's numbers are likely to be less down this time of year as viewers are lining up how they are going to obtain their fix of new programming.

You were proven wrong and now are trying to change the rules of the debate that you set up-

AMC currently doesn't have any programming among the top 150 cable shows (and they didn't the week of the season 9 finale either).

And I responded with a top 150 Cable Shows Ratings Chart.

Just like major retailers post holiday sales figures as a bellwether of their company's success (even though sales will be way down in comparison any other time of year), I don't see how this is an inaccurate indicator of an OTT live TV service's success.

And besides, it's only September 9. Not one of my fall shows have returned yet. The Philo numbers are for the past 8 weeks, mainly catching the height of summer hiatus season.

The numbers are for the past 8 weeks, which would put it squarely at the start of summer, NOT the fall season of TV.
