had to scan twice to get all channels to show up in the guide. The device runs a little bit warm but not too hot to touch or anything like that
I have the black Dish version they installed with my antenna and mine acts the same. Sometimes it will add Tucson stations (100 miles away--but they're unwatchable) and then the locals won't show up in the guide LOL

As with anything being transmitted over the air, the closer the transmitter is, the less chance there is for atmospheric influence. Dry air is usually the best, bring in moisture or rain or electrical storms and a station that was in the 90s can drop to an unwatchable pixelated mess. YMMV.

Our vacation home in the middle of a lake is at least 45 miles from the closest transmitter and there are days nothing makes it through. Cold front swings through, and then we're awash in viewing choices.

At home I use the AirTV Dual Tuner USB dongle on our Hopper 3 and it has been working like a champ. It runs much cooler than the Dish Single Tuner I replaced with it. I believe there are more than enough posts in the Dish forum that have proven the only differences between the Dish Dual Tuner dongle and the AirTV dongle are cosmetic (black vs. white) and price (AirTV is cheaper). Both function identically.
