2019-20 NCAA Football Thread

Georgia & Alabama aren't considered rivals in the SEC. Georgia's rivals would be Aubarn followed by Florida and Alabama's would be Aubarn followed by Tennessee.

Back in the 10 team days, Georgia & Alabama hardly ever played. They've just never been considered rivals.
The only permanent cross division match that the Big Ten has is Perdue & Indiana, because they're in the same State. The SEC (as did the ACC) meanwhile gave everyone a permanent cross division opponent to preserve several of the old SEC rivalries (Georgia/Aubarn, Alabama/Tennessee, Florida/LSU).

I do wish the SEC (as well as the ACC) would go to a 9 game schedule though in order to better cycle the other non-divisional games. The expansions to 14 teams have killed the frequency of those games.
You have to go back a few years with the Big Ten ... I was actually referring to when Ohio State and TTUN were in different divisions ... They played every year.
I didn't know that Georgia wasn't a Bama rival.

He may be talking about the University President making a statement about how since 2014 Alabama has played more daytime home games in september than any other conference school. Again, that was the President, although Saban did mention how he wished some of the games were at different times. The broadcasters set those times however.

The only other thing I can think of is Saban has for years harped on the students leaving the games early when its a blowout against a OOC team, which it usually is. He walked that back a little this week saying he knew it was hot at the games and that may present a hardship for some fans.

For the life of me I cant see how either of those situations equate to Saban "bitching about the heat".
My Bad ...
It wasn't Saban that was doing the complaining .... however when you post an article and Saban is the picture on the page, you forget that hes not the one talking.

Alabama not happy with start time due to heat

Maybe a step, but not a Huge one.
1(Coaches)-2(AP) spots isn't a huge step.
Cincy is MUCH better than most of you think and you all bought into that "Texas is Back" campaign.
And your buying into the campaign that Ohio State should be on the top as well.

I see no difference here, other than LSU beat a power 5 team on the road, and Ohio St. hasn't.

So who has the better resume so far?

Not taking anything away from OSU but Cincy beating UCLA isn't exactly a statement. They also got beat by the Aztecs.
My thinking it's too early to rank teams, I like to see at least 2 quality wins and you don't really know until more games are played. Example Texas could drop a couple more games so the LSU win over Texas doesn't mean much. Ranking are worthless this time of year except for unfair positioning for playoffs, and the big-name schools always get this advantage.

I agree, that's why I like how the CFP and the old BCS/Harris poll waited over half the season was over with.

I have Not said I think the Buckeyes should be on top .... at all.
Its too early for that.

So, do we know how good or bad Texas is ?
LSU is getting a ton of credit for beating them.

Remember, I'm not against LSU at all .... you've got my Buckeyes back up QB down there ... and he's playing well.

It's no surprise that Burrow didn't beat out Haskins last year ...
However, I'm disappointed that he didn't stick around and try to win the job this year ...
Buckeyes wouldn't have gone after Fields had they had Joe still.

You are right about the ranking ... they don't mean squat ....
However, they are doing what they are suppose to do ... we are all talking about them.

You like to see two quailty games ?
No one has played 2 quality teams yet, thats hard to do this early ...
Some don't play more than 2 quality opponents all year.

You like to see two quailty games ? Yes
No one has played 2 quality teams yet, thats hard to do this early ... That's my point
Some don't play more than 2 quality opponents all year. Then they shouldn't be ranked .

I love the polls. It gives us hype on games, and gives us forum info to discuss.

More often than not, when it comes to top teams, it’s more or less accurate.

there are exceptions obviously

We all think similar when we see matchups, even if the number before the name wasnt present.

My son and I joke around how we hate kickers. Kentucky fans don't see it as a joke this morning after a game-winning chip shot is missed with 55 seconds left.
Florida again proved it doesn't belong in top 10.
