Greetings,

I would like to know what are the correct setting to use in the antenna setup screen in order to do a perfect ( or near perfect ) blind scan ?

My current setup is :
- stab100 motor
- 1m winegard dish
- invacom qph-031 quad lnb
- viewsat ultra

For now I am using the default setup to blind scan. However, this has the following drawback:

- Long blind scan ( 30 minutes ). The viewsat is scanning both low/high
on H and V and this take a very long time. I suspect I am scanning too many
frequency and that could be speed up by a better setting

- Duplicate channel ( or 3/4 copies of the same channel) on different
transponder.

- Transponder mismatch. The viewsat report an active transponder ( and active
channel ) on number that doesn't match those provided on lyngsat. Here we're
not talking about a few digit mismatch. For example, I got transponder on
10,884 and 11789. Both contain the same channel list. Those are not the real
number, just an example to show you the difference bewteen the number.

I suspect that this is all related to the default parameter used for blind scanning.

Anyone have the correct parameter to use with the invacom for scanning a FSS/DBS bird ? The setup must be different for a FSS than for a DBS sat. At least I think soo. But I may be wrong. This is all new to me. And I am seeking your help.

Scan one polarity at a time. You have the option of choosing H or V or both in the satellite scan menu. Use the left or right buttons on the menu to choose. Once you set the LO freq to 10750 it should work fine. I average about 2.min40seconds on a ku band sat with my Ultra. (on each polarity) I have no idea about scanning the dishnetwork birds, nor do I need to know.

Well, thank for the information, It worked fine. The scan is now fast and much more accurate. Only a 1 mhz difference with the lyngsat listing.

Now, I need to now the same information to scan Echostar7@129.0°w.

Tried many thing to get to the only one very very interessting channel on this bird.

A friend talked about the progress 24 cargo docking the International Space Station this weekend. He said that the docking operation was available on Nasa TV.

By searching lyngsat I found that Nasa Tv is located on echo7.

However, after many scan, I still fail to get this channel.

I tried the default lnb setup. No use. With this one, I only get one TP listing many scrambled channel. Tried port1 ( circular ) port2 ( linear ) and a combination of LO freq. No success... I got a mix of scrambled channel, but no nasa.

Plz help me get NasaTv. Space as always been very attractive to me. And knowing that NasaTv is available somewhere in the air is driving me crazy.

Thank you very much.

If I had taked the time to read the "What can I get with an 18" dish or a Dish 500??" thread I would I found it. But I got a 1m dish. Don't know why, but the dish 500 title didn't catch my eyes on this one.

I will give it a try. Let's hope Nasa is coming in on my viewsat. That will be a pleasure to watch.

And thanks for the LO freq. That is the kind of informations I was searching.

Being a newbie is great. The learning experience is very satisfying.

Arrrrgggghhhhh.

Did as you said. port 1, lo 11250. Got lots of tp with way more channel than before.

However, even if tp11 did show up after the blind scan, there is still no channel on it. Even if I do an auto scan ( scan only this tp ).

What could be wrong ?

By comparing the channel list of the dish package, I must be on the right bird. Many channel does indeed match even if they come in scrambled.

I have lots of tp on this bird that doesn't show any chanel on them. Even if the Q signal is 90-95.

I don't understand why.

Slight misalignment maybe. If soo, can anyone give me a weak tp to which I could fine tune the alignment ?

Any other suggestions ?

you're sure you're on 119?

I would match up the frequency and try to scan that. TP11 is at 12370 V 20000 (freq, pol, symbol). I know NASA is there because I just caught a little bit last night of it.

Iceberg can you get nasa that way on 119? I mean with a linear lnb? I never tried that.
I rather get it off amc6 c-band anyway so I can get all 4 channels.

I will do a tp compare between the stb and the lyngsat information. Will update the thread with the result.

Great news today.

Since I am tracking correctly all the birds from 61.5 to 129, I must be correctly aligned to this one too.

I did another blind scan, check the tp with lyngsat. Got many that are listed correctly. So, I am aligned correctly.

But still, I got channel on half the tp at most.

Did an autoscan 3 times. All of the 3 times I got different number of channel coming in. But at last, the third time was the right one.

Nasa in coming in now :up

Don't know why I had to auto scan so many times in order to get the channel list. This is the only bird that had required this technique to date. Usually, I don't auto scan. Simply blind scan and voila.

And let me had something.

This forum is marvellous. I couldn't have done it without your help.

So sad I gotta go to work this morning instead of watching Nasa.

Thank you all for your help.
