    Terrible call to DiSH

But I've heard a lot of griping about hopper. Does it require a talk-back link to DiSH? Also I'm highly unimpressed with the remotes they've put out for those. Oh, I see from other thread the older ones will work with...intersting

    Terrible call to DiSH

Why? Is that what's brought this one down? Can you replace them with something? I just don't see them "shutting off" running ViPs with no technical need to do so. Not installing for new service I get that. Also I doubt they'd turn away business from a self-installer who buys one on eBay and...

    Terrible call to DiSH

I called them in large part to see how they would do. I was prepared for the Hopper push, and clearly 99% of callers in my position would have been suggested or railroaded into that. I was prepared to source one from the resale market but after all of the wrangling which really took me back in...

    Terrible call to DiSH

One of my 722k's is flaking out, intermittently freezing and restarting, so I called in to get it swapped out. The rep said that my system is "obsolete" and that I should upgrade to Hopper. After making clear I want no Hopper, she said she had "sent her strong signal" to my ailing receiver. I...

audio levels from channel to channel

But doesn't music require a lot of dynamic range? At least classical & the like? So there has to be allowance for some highs without attenuation, and some lows without boosting. It seems there needs to be some kind of a universal median level that all sources can register to, that still allows...

audio levels from channel to channel

So I guess then that between ch. 215 (wx) and 192 (ID) or one of my sat locals, 215 is one way and the other 2 are the other?

audio levels from channel to channel

Wasn't there a law passed a long time back mandating service providers level the sound from one ch. to the next? Or was that just for within any single given ch., and not letting commercials be boosted? Regardless it's a pain on DiSH with some ch's way louder than others, and having to jockey...

    EchoStar 3rd Quarter 2025 SEC 10K

AK is on the North American continent, but conus has long been understood (usually) to be just the 48. Some conus coverages have taken in AK or part thereof.

Talking about upgrading equipment or buying our own equipment for dish network..!!!

Can't you upgrade service (hardware change/add'n) at no charge at any time, just extend out 2 yrs required from date of upgrade, even if already in contract? Compared with streaming, cable and especially satellite gear and interconnections are cumbersome in (and on) the home. DiSH has only...

Talking about upgrading equipment or buying our own equipment for dish network..!!!

Owning was the original paradigm of DBS, like with C-band before it, but as early adopters were used up the $299 cost of basic system became a choke point. DiSH started off the low entry cost game by going to $199, then throwing in a free self-installation kit, then came up with leasing, with...

Talking about upgrading equipment or buying our own equipment for dish network..!!!

That's just it, a box at every tv. That's when I got out as a dealer. It had been progressing toward whole-house 1 unit and then this. I think maybe part of it was to thwart account stacking. Does streaming need a box for every set?

What is to be gained from owning, < in leasing fees?

    buying from dish

But, but...even though you own rx's they replace them for free if they fail. They won't let you pay less and assume the risk yourself because that increases the chance that you'll cancel once faced with a hefty rx repair or replacement charge.

It may finally be time to say Good Bye

If you own the rx does that mean you have to pay for repairs if it goes bad? To my recall, they'd simply send a replacement at no charge regardless of owned or leased, so there was no functional difference
