For whatever reason, Dish downmixes basically all Fox Sports 4K feeds to 2.0.

I also confirm that the colors look correct when when the color space is set to BT.2020 (or “Wide” under “Color Gamut” for LG TVs). Whatever Dish is doing, it’s reporting the wrong color space/color gamut.

It doesn’t support HLG HDR so it can’t be shown that way.

Fox sports is almost certainly not producing a 4K version without HDR, so I would be very surprised if that’s the case.

NFL Thursday Night Football in 4k looks bland

One of those great mysteries of why Dish does anything they do. Were it an issue of bandwidth, that’s your answer, but I’m fairly certainly they have that available. So your guess is as good as mine.

As I mentioned in the other thread, Dish is either stripping the HDR data out of the 4K signal entirely or is doing an HDR -> SDR conversion. I will try what vipul128 has suggested, which if true implies that the HDR metadata is being stripped out but that the color space is incorrectly being...

NFL Thursday Night Football in 4k looks bland

The HDR channel been used for the Winter Olympics and the World Cup but not seemingly since, if I recall correctly. Like if you’re asking me if Dish is quoted somewhere as saying that, no, but it’s a matter of experience and likelihood. Fox Sports is producing the show in standard high def...

NFL Thursday Night Football in 4k looks bland

Dish is stripping the HDR data from their rebroadcast of the 4K feed which results in colors not looking right. Not sure why they’re doing that unless they think having it available to watch on the 4K joey is more important than having a correct looking picture.

Dish stripping the HDR data isn’t great, but they’re also down mixing from 5.1 to 2.0. What’s even the purpose of that?

    T-Vision

I tried it last October. Video quality was great. Stream stability was really good as well. The hardware itself sucks, had to power cycle the box once a day because it'd lock up. Missed 5-10% of DVR timers. It didn't have any trick play, so only fast forward and rewind for the DVR (no 30...

Correct, it is the Penguins feed.

    NHL Center Ice 2019-20

Canadian feeds this year appear to be in HD now but MSG broadcast teams seem to be using the other team’s feed for both HD and SD. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Sabres/Islanders/Rangers play each other.

    DISH, DirecTV to merge?

I see no reason for Dish to buy unless it's extremely cheap. Do they really want to maintain a third arc? Cause they aren't going to do truck rolls on half their customers to swap hardware and repoint dishes.

    Echostar 23 to co-locate with Nimiq 5

Hopper 3 and Wally support HEVC. Dish doesn't need a new satellite to deploy HEVC, they would need to replace a lot of customer boxes.

Yeah, because of bitrate, not resolution.

The ESPN family of networks are 720p. You're getting 720p on the ESPN app as well.

Dish’s broadcast of the women’s World Cup in 4K is passing stereo only. Should be full 5.1 (and can verify it is in the Fox Sports app).

Did u hear on news about merger

I can’t speak to 2 and 3, but don’t count on 1. If you aren’t getting LTE from T-Mobile or AT&T because of distance from the tower, you probably aren’t going to get 5G. The distance 5G goes on those low frequencies isn’t dissimilar from the distance of LTE. You’d need a new tower built. And...
