For whatever reason, Dish downmixes basically all Fox Sports 4K feeds to 2.0.

I also confirm that the colors look correct when when the color space is set to BT.2020 (or “Wide” under “Color Gamut” for LG TVs). Whatever Dish is doing, it’s reporting the wrong color space/color gamut.

It doesn’t support HLG HDR so it can’t be shown that way.

Fox sports is almost certainly not producing a 4K version without HDR, so I would be very surprised if that’s the case.

One of those great mysteries of why Dish does anything they do. Were it an issue of bandwidth, that’s your answer, but I’m fairly certainly they have that available. So your guess is as good as mine.

Dish is stripping the HDR data from their rebroadcast of the 4K feed which results in colors not looking right. Not sure why they’re doing that unless they think having it available to watch on the 4K joey is more important than having a correct looking picture.

Canadian feeds this year appear to be in HD now but MSG broadcast teams seem to be using the other team’s feed for both HD and SD. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Sabres/Islanders/Rangers play each other.

Hopper 3 and Wally support HEVC. Dish doesn't need a new satellite to deploy HEVC, they would need to replace a lot of customer boxes.
