The advertising here is scaring me big time!

I have been shopping for furniture in my home. I looked on overstock, and amazon for a closet organizer by John Louis Home, and a platform bed with drawers that are under the mattress. I was looking at a kitchen table with one of the chairs specifically shaped to fit in the corner of a room...

Dish messed up my bill in my favor, can't get Indian CSRs to figure it out.

This is comical. I switched to the HD Only pack on 2/1/08. After viewing the new package for one month, my bill is -$51.81! Don't know why. I think I should have to pay them $40.97, that should be my charge. The first month will be prorated between the old package and the new package, so...

Do I need to repoint my dish farm??

I want to subscribe to the new stand alone HD pack on 2/1/08, and I want to be prepared for when it is available. I live in the San Francisco DMA, and I have three dishes on my roof, and an OTA setup. I have dishes pointed at 61.5, 110, 119, and 148. Is that still good enough to receive...

My Dish Network Bill includes tax this month!!!!

This is weird. I just looked online at my DishNetwork bill, and I see a $1 local tax on it. I haven't heard of any satellite taxes in California. Has something changed? I called Dish Network, and the CSR first said the tax was for programming. Then she said it was for services, but...

    Anybody get HD Distant locals??

I'm in the SF DMA, and HD LIL isn't available yet in my area. I'm curious if anyone in a situation similar to mine has managed to get HD Distants. If you got them, how did you do it? The language from their press release made it sound like it is possible to do. However, when dealing...

622 lease upgraders, did you get a fair deal?

622 lease upgraders, some got better deals than others! What do you think? 942 owners paid roughly $700 for their box no more than a year ago, and dish gave them $200 for it towards a leased 622. 921 owners paid roughly $1000 for their box two years ago, and dish gave them $200 for it...

What is the address to write the E* CEO??

I know we can email to ceo@echostar.com, which has been useful in the past. However, I've heard that writing a letter and putting a stamp on it is taken more seriously with companies like this.... Does anybody know what the address for the executive office is? Any official address that is...

    HD Enabling Fee!

I am an HD Pack only subscriber with the new 622 receiver. Actually, for those that are curious, I have the new 622 and I subscribe to the legacy HD Pack + Voom for $15. I do not subscribe to SD, not even AT60. Going to the Stand Alone HD Pack isn't worth doubling the cost to get GamePlay...

Have you ever received any consessions from Echostar?

I'm just curious about this one. The only concession I've ever seen people get from Echostar is getting the lease deal for the 942 when they were not a new customer. In all honesty though, I don't really consider signing a lease for that thing to be a concession. That is like the mouse...

What are you going to do about the MPEG-4 transition?

This is the second poll. Let's find out if there is any discrepency between how we feel and what we are going to do.....

How do you feel about the upgrade path??

I've heard a lot of complaints about the upgrade to MPEG-4. I've also noticed that a lot of people can't wait to get their hands on the new 622. So, I'm making a couple of polls to better guage how it is received.

Can grandfathered customers get old HD Pack with new receiver??

I suspect I know the answer to this one, but I have to ask if anyone has inquired about this scenario... If you have an old receiver prior to 2/1/06, you are grandfathered with the old HD Pack price of $10 and $5 for voom. If you buy a new 622, or a 211, can you choose to keep the old HD...

    VOD on the 622??

It worries me that the specs for the 622 say that it has a 320GB HD, and it has also been said that it only records 25 hours of HD content. If it was MPEG-2 encoded, it should be around 32 hours of recording, and if it is MPEG-4 encoded, theoretically it should be even more! Given that...

Is Echostar breaking any laws with MPEG-4 transition?

Here are portions a couple of notes I have emailed to ceo@echostar.com that explain why I think their tactics aren't so honest, and I suggested collusion. What do you think? As an "upgrade" offer, Echostar is offering $200 for receivers that individuals paid $1000, and $699 for in the past...

How many voices do we have??

How many voices do we have? Will you help? Is it possible for our friendly, neighborhood moderator to sticky this poll? The idea behind this forum is simple, we want to make a difference with Dish. I think we want our voices heard. I think we want to have a constructive relationship with...

    Will you buy a 942?

It has no MPEG4 decoding capability, and according to Dish, will be obsolete within a year when they add new HD channels based on MPEG4 encoding. The 921 isn't finished yet, no reason to believe the 942 will work any better. Did dish make another really boneheadded decision again?

    What are our goals/objectives?

If this forum is going to work, we need to be focused. According to Scott, Dish is monitoring this area. Do you think they will listen to individual diatribes like, "my receiver is buggy?" Absolutely not. The reason is that something like that doesn't even say why the user thinks it...

Anybody having OTA guide issues with the 811?

The dish 921 guide data fiasco prompted me to call dish to see if they would fix the issue. They told me that the 921 *and* the 811 are having problems with OTA guide info. Yet, I don't see a single thread here suggesting 811 users are having an OTA guide issue. Are you having OTA guide...

Scott, we could sure use your help with the latest 921 fiasco....

This analog OTA guide info kludge they sell us for $6/mo without any sub-channel info, or simulcast accuracy is the last straw for a series of snafus with the 921. When Dish did announced the move to MPEG-4, you somehow got them to respond to you. How did you do that? Is it possible we...

    921 LNB/Switch setup......

I've got a Dish 6000 with a Dish looking at 110 and 119, and a second dish looking at 148. The two cables coming out go to a SW 21. It is NOT a dish pro switch 21. To upgrade to a 921, can I just get another SW 21, and connect two more cables to the LNBs (each one has two taps, only one used)...
