UI upgrade has RUINED Hopper 1 usability

I know this isn't a new topic, but I only downloaded the upgrade 24 hours ago so I'm still in shock. I've gone from perfectly happy to disgusted. My Hopper 1 is now a slow sluggish relic of what was cutting edge tech only 5 years ago. It's not unusable, it's insufferable. My Hopper is now the...

    Got the Hopper yesterday... WOW!

I just upgraded from a single TV and the VIP612 to four TV's with the Hopper and three Joeys. I AM THRILLED. :) Forget about the whole-home-DVR experience. That's great, but the Hopper alone is magnificent. I highly recommend the Hopper even if you're a one-TV household and don't need any...

Called to upgrade to Hopper. $65 and 4 very confusing minutes later...

I'm posting to tell all, that upgrading to Hopper right now will cost you $65, maybe. The phone call to request this was more than a little confusing. I requested an upgrade from my VIP612 to 1 Hopper and 3 Joeys. The customer service rep didn't ask me any questions at all or offer me any...

Doomed Dish Installation Of The Day

My neighbor up the street lives with a very steep hill behind his house, the west side of his property. For as long as I can recall he's had this dish perched majestically upon his roof reaching for a view of the satellite. A couple of months ago this new setup appeared. It appears to be...

New Remote under Equipment Protection Plan?

Has anyone here ever used their Equipment Protection Plan to get a fresh remote? It's not broken, just beat up and a little flakey. If I could get one, and get it by mail, I would. I certainly don't want some poor tech driving 30 miles to bring me a remote because Dish mandates that it be...

If you want to use Rain-X to fight snow on your dish, act soon.

This may be the most useless thread ever, but I post for a reason. After having a handful of problems with snow build-up on my dish last winter, I coated my dish with Rain-X today. According to directions, Rain-X should be applied in temps above 40 degrees fahrenheit. For me, today was possibly...

Blockbuster on 612 stinks! Is it coming to WDTV?

After a lot of consideration, I signed up for Blockbuster Movie Pass. Even though there isn't a Blockbuster store within 50 miles of my home, I thought $10 for DVD's and games by mail, plus streaming, was a great deal. The Movie Pass functionality just arrived on my 612 this past week, so I...

American Chopper on tonight - Guide is wrong

Just a reminder for fans of American Chopper. A new episode airs tonight at 9:00 EST and a special "Family Divided" episode repeats at 10:00 EST. The guide is mistakenly listing Get Out Alive and Brew Masters for these time slots. This error is on the Dish website as well as the DVR. This seems...

    Seeking advice from VIP612 users

I joined Dish about 4 months ago and am very happy with it on my one HDTV setup. I even love the widely scorned VIP612 I was given. It makes the Time Warner DVR I had look like a sad toy. Lately, the box has been faltering a bit. I can't watch a recorded show without encountering a few hiccups...

    A quick cabling question

I'm ditching cable and getting DN installed in a few days. I want to clear a path in my basement for the installer if needed. For cable TV, I currently have the line going into my basement through the foundation, then coupling to 50' of fine RG-6 running straight to my living room setup. I...

Ok to pole mount next to wall? - PHOTOS

I'd like to pole-mount my Dish Network dish in the ground, about 5 feet up, next to a tall wall. According to DishPointer.com I'd have a clear view of all 3 satellites for the Multi-LNB setup. Any problems with this, aside from exposing the dish to lawn mowers, kids and such? The cables would...

Neighborhood power lines in line-of-site a problem?

I have a perfect patch of open sky for Dish Network with Multi-LNB. The only thing in the way is the neighborhood wires, running from pole to pole, about 50 feet from the proposed dish install area. It's only 4 wires spaced a minimum of 2' apart. Will this be a problem? Are wires ever a problem?

Trying to check my yard for line of sight

I'm trying to find the azimuth and elevation for the Dish Network satellite(s) from my area. DirecTV has a great page for this on their website but I can't find the same info for Dish. I live in NY, zip code 12449. Can anyone point me to the info. I'd rather check to see if I have any trees in...
